Happy Monday, Blog World!
I asked if you had any questions over on my Insta Stories a couple weeks ago and you guys delivered. I’ll have to share a few installments just to get to all the questions. Let’s get to it!
Such a GREAT question! As our kids have grown, this has changed a lot for us over the years. Now that most of them are in school nine months out of the year, we’ve gotten pretty set on taking trips during certain school holidays. We’re to the point now where we can count down how many years we have left with Ebby Lee at home! WAAAHHHH!!! We want to take full advantage of showing them places and just being together and present. Vacations are such sweet times for our family. We just set aside a certain amount of money for our vacations throughout the year. Also, remember I talk about vacations every single day with clients so they’re always on my brain.
This is a tricky one. I’m very diligent about dermatologist appointments and great skin care nine months out of the year but summer is somewhat of a free for all on bedtimes AND my skin. I’m using great products but I’m just not as hardcore. During the school year, if I’m out of a product then I’m ordering immediately or asking my aesthetician what I should be using, but during the summer I’m digging through my bathroom closet. For now, I’m using…
2. La Mer
3. Coola Drops {at night I skip this step}
I’m so glad you asked about these! I love the fit of the THESE AMAZON LEGGINGS. I messed up by ordering, “Lunar Rock”, and that color is too light. It shows a lot of things that shouldn’t be shown. I’d highly recommend them, but I’d stick to a darker color.
Oh my goodness! I remember those DAYS! Kind of-haha! Some of the days my mind has literally blocked them right out. My first tidbit is ENJOY THE MOMENTS. You’re going through some physically exhausting times and those babies need you 24/7 but you’ll look up one day and if you’re like me you’ll be begging to hold someone-even for just a bit. The days do go by literally so quickly. Do your best to soak it all up!
Some things that worked for me- I did my very best to get all my kids to take a nice, long afternoon nap at the same time. Allowing myself that little break during nap time really helped my sanity! And then those crazy witching hours…3-5ish every afternoon/evening we walked to the park more times than I can count…alone, with friends, or with neighbors…but it was great for them and great for me. Best of luck to you, Mama! XO
Did you see the post? You can read all about our Road Trip #2! I know I’ve said it before, but I’m saying it again…you should do this with your crew! You don’t even have to make it an overnight thing. You could make it one really long day trip or you could be gone for a week. Either way just getting away with your people is good for the soul!
Take the trips! Do all the things! Tab and I both had this mind set of needing a certain amount of money in the bank before we could even attempt having a child. Let me add…this was a great plan and it really helped us. But I think there is a happy medium. I’d tell us to go on a really big vacation. And then I’d tell myself to enjoy doing only a couple loads of laundry FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK! The days of doing all the laundry on a Saturday morning are fleeting so ENJOY that. Your laundry game is about to change. 😉
No, I think our family is absolutely perfect just the way it is.
But I remember posting this picture announcing we were pregnant with Baby #3 and saying something about it being the last Slaughter baby. A minister’s wife at our church commented something like, “Never say never. God can do BIG things”.
And years later we were posting this…
So I’ve learned NEVER to say NEVER. God can do ANYTHING!
But if you’re asking me…I think we’re complete.
Hmmmm….I wish I had some super secret to let you in on, but I don’t. My big tip would be to be consistent. I think when you’re trying to grab readers and get people over to your blog consistency REALLY helps!
These are my kiddos’ three favorite shows and I’ve gotta be honest…I enjoy each and everyone of them. The only thing about these shows is my kids will watch the same episode OVER AND OVER AND OVER again.

Back in the day, I didn’t mind Peppa Pig or Bubble Guppies one bit.
Okay, in no particular order…
The Italy/Greece trip from this summer has to be on the list! The weather was absolute perfection, the scenery was spectacular, the food delicious, and I could go on and on.
We were just talking to our kids the other day about their favorite vacations and Ebby Lee said that she absolutely loved Rosemary Beach.
It was the first time we’d done a Beach Trip with just our family of six. We made some AMAZING memories that week and soaked up all the family fun.
Another vacation that was absolutely amazing was our Disney Land and Sea vacation with the Shull crew. We spent three days at Disney World and then ended with a four night Disney Cruise. SO MUCH FUN!
An honorable mention HAS to be our New York City trip in the fall…
If you missed those posts, Tab had a football game at West Point so our crew tagged along for an amazing getaway to New York City.
And of course, the trip that is in a category all it’s own is our China Trip…
This was the trip of a lifetime.
Don’t worry…we already have some trips on the horizon, that I have NO DOUBTS will make this list as well!
Um…no. While I LOVE watching reality television, I do not ever want to BE on a reality show. To be honest, right now…I’m LOVING what I get to do! Being a mom is my FAVORITE job and I’m so thankful I get to do just that to my four little gifts.
OH! Baby names…I love chit chatting baby names so I’m so very glad you asked. 🙂
You can read all about Ebby Lee’s name here.
You can read all about Nixon’s and Bowen’s names here.
You can read all about Britt’s name here.
Oh friend…my heart aches for you. Please know you’re not alone! My top tip would be to find some ladies walking the same path. I think there is relief in knowing others are walking the same road and I really think it helped me. I also recommend this bible study, Hannah’s Hope. {I walked this road over ten years ago so there might be some newer amazing studies out there-if so, please share!}
Praying for you, today!
XO
Tab and I met through a mutual friend in college and were just acquaintances but we bumped into each other a couple years later and…
the rest is history. 🙂
If you’re still here and made it all the way through that post, THANK YOU! I still have a ton of questions I’ll be answering in the weeks to come. Hope you have a great Monday!
XO

Laughing about the laundry game changing! haha So true! And face-palming about the advice to be consistent with your blog. 🤦♀️😂 Also so true. I'm going to get better at that someday! Maybe. haha
That Inspired Chick
To the mans who asked for advice/encouragement when your 3 kids are so young, I would say you need to keep the big picture in mind, especially when the here&now seems really hard. I have 3 siblings, we were all born within 8 years of each other, and I cannot even begin to tell you how blessed I am to have them. It’s a relationship that is unlike any other. We weren’t very close until we were in our 20’s, but I’m so glad my parents kept having kids so we’d all have each other!! I can’t imagine life without each one of them.
Love the names! Our girls were named based on what their names mean. Carys is our “love” and Jensyn is our “gracious gift from God”.
Loved your Q&A!! I’m going give those Amazon leggings a whirl since you’ve given them your vote of confidence!!
Did NYC seem really crowded visiting it during the marathon? We are thinking of going that weekend this year, and it didn't occur to me that the marathon was that weekend until I read your post! Now I am worried about crowds… though we have been there between Christmas and New Years, so it's probably better than that?
