Green Bay Getaway

Hey Friends! Happy Happy Wednesday! The temperature is finally supposed to drop below ninety degrees today {and hopefully stay that way until 2024} and I think all of North Texas is READY for it!

Last week, I got to sneak away with Tab to his Thursday night game in Green Bay versus. I’d love to join him on more weekend getaways but the weekend trips are HARD right now. I don’t like to miss many kid games/events so actually this little 48 hour trip allowed us to getaway but we only missed one game. That’s impressive these days! A huge shout out to my mom for coming to visit, holding down the fort, and always doing such an amazing job!

Here’s a little look at our 48 hours…Wednesday morning we flew to Green Bay {with one little stop in Chicago} mid-afternoon. We checked into our hotel…

Tab and I were both pumped about cooler weather and Green Bay delivered! The weather was perfectly “fall” and what every where should feel like in late September. I wore this sleeveless sweater vest with these jeans {from last year but still available}.

Our hotel was a cute little boutique hotel right in the heart of Green Bay. While it’s all been updated, it still has some of the charm from years ago.

The temperature was just a bit too chilly for my sleeveless sweater vest so I switched into an Amazon sweater. I ordered the small in “Dark Khaki”. It comes oversize and is perfect for that warm cozy vibe I was wanting.

Tab and I Ubered over to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.

We checked it all out…super cool and learned so many facts about the Packers as well as Lambeau Field.

The space would be great for so many ages. My boys would have loved this as well!

Tab and I were both walking around in the same area but we spread out just a bit and when we were leaving we’d both {on our own} taken a pic of this sign. SO TRUE!

A selfie with Vince because you gotta, right?

We popped into the Hinterland Brewery, which was a quick walk from the Hall of Fame to grab an early dinner. We did that thing where we order a bunch to split but it turns into so much food you can hardly eat any of it. Cheese curds {because we HAD to, right?}, chili, chicken sandwich, garlic fries, veal meatloaf, and veggies….yes, yes, yes! We got one negative review about this restaurant from a local so we almost didn’t even pop in but we’re so glad we did. Our food was great, the service was awesome, and the ambience was perfect! Fires were going with sports on the televisions…absolutely perfect for this trip!

We talked to many people who were in for the game and everyone I talked to mentioned they had the cheese curds. I tried them twice in 48 hours so I definitely am not a cheese curd expert BUT I can’t help but wonder…what would ever make them bad?! hahaha! Fried cheese…um, how could that go wrong?! After that delicious meal, we called it a night early and watched half of the Kelce documentary in bed. It was my perfect kind of night.

***You guys know I’m not the best sleeper BUT I slept for almost twelve hours on Wednesday night. I woke up asking Tab if we could move our family to Green Bay because it must be a sign that was where I belong. I haven’t had that kind of sleep since before I had kids. It was incredible!***

Saturday morning the officials had a pre-game meeting so after breakfast Tab went with the crew while I did some travel work on my computer, popped into the gym for a workout {where I totally fan-girled over Tony Gonzalez being the only other person in there with me but I tried to keep my cool}, and then went for a little walk around Green Bay to find some gorgeous views.

I know I’ve already mentioned the weather but I was walking around in leggings! Tab met up with me for a quick lunch before we both got ready for the game.

The bus picked the group up right here outside our hotel at 3:50 sharp.

And we were off to Lambeau!

It’s such an iconic place and there’s really no way to describe it. I will tell you if you’re a huge football lover, the next time your team is in Green Bay, MAKE THE TRIP! A few of the other officials had some family with them as well and one guy had a connection to get us into a tailgating party prior. We enjoyed some delicious food {MORE cheese curds} before making our way into the stadium.

Who’d I spy as soon as I walked in?? Kirk and Al! Do you see them?

The officials get a few tickets to each game and friends…I’ve never had seats like these! We were row one right on the end zone. That area is also known as the “Lambeau Leap” section because after scoring touchdowns players are known to “leap” into the stands. Unfortunately, the Packers didn’t score a ton of points so I didn’t witness much “leaping”, but I got to experience everything else super up close.

Such a cool night for my favorite #110!

Can you spot #110 during warm-ups?

Apparently Tony wasn’t the only guy I was fan-girling over. ;). I have about ten other pics similar to this one but I’ll spare you.

Tab with the referee on his crew, Alan. These two officiated college football in the Big 12 years ago. Super fun to see them back on the field together now!

The sun started to set, the lights went out, and Lambeau showed out. This stadium was absolutely stunning!

Maybe because I was so low in the stadium? Maybe because I was so close? Maybe because that’s just the way Lambeau is? Maybe it’s the Packers’ fans? I’m not really sure why but this stadium was extremely loud!

And around mid-game, I got this pic! Do you see me? After seeing this, I began smiling just in case. hahaha!

After the game I met up with the crew to catch the bus back to the hotel where we joined the Amazon team for a little post-game fun. The Thursday Night Football announcers were hanging out there as well. People like Richard Sherman, Andrew Whitworth, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Charissa Thompson, and Tony {but I already mentioned him} were in attendance. I listen to Erin and Charissa’s Calm Down podcast each week which Tab knows but I wasn’t prepared to actually go speak to her. I was content fan-girling from afar. haha! But my sweet husband did that thing only husbands can do and he decided to introduce us. {If looks could kill when he came to get me…hahahaha!}. Charissa was absolutely precious and super sweet!

Green Bay, you treated us so well! You spoiled me! For the rest of my football watching in stadiums, I’ll forever remember the great seats you gave me and am certain I’ll always be a bit disappointed with all my other seats. Thank you! The Lions and Packers fans in attendance were all amazing! There was a moment at the end of the game {due to my amazing seat} I was surrounded by Lions’ fans waiting to cheer for their team as they made their way back to the locker room. You guys were so INTO IT that I found myself reaching my own hand down to high five the players. hahahaha! All the fans were so dedicated and SO into the game, I could feel their passion. It was an experience of a lifetime and I’m so thankful I got to be a part of it!

And remember-if you get the chance to visit Lambeau for yourself, DO IT!

XO

So happy that Green Bay welcomed you so warmly (without the crazy heat of Texas)! There is such a thing as a not great cheese curd (I hesitate to call it bad…because, cheese!), but definitely some better than others! Love seeing my hometown from a visitor perspective, sometimes we don’t realize how special it is!
