Friday Favorites

Hey, Hey for the WEEKEND!

Today, I’m joining Andrea and Narci to bring you Friday Favorites.  We hope you’ll join us!  Simply share a favorite or two from your week, grab our graphic, and add your blog to the link-up.

Here are some favorites from the week…

First up, I had a lot of responses for infertility pen pals.  Thank you ladies for reaching out.  I’ll be matching you this weekend and will send out the information then.  Thank you!
These cute Shull girls spent the morning with Bowen and me on Monday.  I’ve said before that Ashby Shull knows just what to say or do to get me to agree to pretty much anything.  I’m a SUCKER!  On this particular day, Bowen hadn’t eaten breakfast so we walked in the cafe at the gym to get him a little bite.  Someone mentioned the gummy worms and I was literally putty in their hands.  Three-to-one, I didn’t stand a chance.  But I mean…look at their faces.  A new FAVORITE picture.  I sent this to Shay at 8:10 a.m. with the caption that said, “On my watch, you get gummy worms before 8:15!!”.  #sucker

Have you guys read this book?  Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist…a few of her other books have been FAVORITES, for sure.  I’m only about half way through and some parts I’m loving.  I love the way it’s written-like I could sit down and read the entire book at one sitting.  It’s a super quick read.  Other parts I’m not relating to as much.  I’m just wondering how it ends.  If you read, let me know what you thought.

After school on Monday, we met Shay and her kiddos at the park.   Miss Thing grabbed my phone.  I turned the camera on and Madeley cheesed away!  Look at that grin.  hahaha!  She’s got skills in the cheesing department.  FAVORITE…an afternoon outside in our amazing weather (this cutie in the picture made it even more fun).

On Wednesday, Shay and I hosted our second Workin’ It Wednesday of the year.  This month we shared ideas for how we work at keeping our marriage strong.

This would NOT be a favorite….on Tuesday morning, I got a text from a neighbor saying a dog was in our trash.  UGH!  We had thrown leftover Super Bowl cake away, a trash bag fell out of our big trash can and this little dog was enjoying the cake.  All over the driveway.  Sigh.  I tried to snap of a picture of the dog amidst the mess but it ran off before I could.

Yesterday, I posted a round up of clothes and shoes that are all on sale (or great priced).  This dress now comes in six other colors.  I’ve got my eye on the ivory/navy stripe.  I’m not sure about you, but I think this spring/summer light weight and comfy dresses like this will be my go-to over shorts.  I’m in an awkward shorts stage.  They tend to be either too short or too long.  Please send your favorite shorts my way!!

Earlier this week, my sweet cousin, Lindsey, gave birth several weeks early to a precious baby boy.  Lindsey and her hubby live in Knoxville, TN,  and I had this desperate urge to want to be there.  Just to love on them.  Living far away from family can be tough during times like these, but I sent every single bit of virtual loving I possibly could via my cell phone.  And I prayed.  I reached out to some friends to be lifting them up as well.

But God was there.  A FAVORITE of the week was hearing good news about their baby boy.

I hope you and your crew have a great weekend!  See you back here on Monday!  XO

I mean…my girls had the best time on Monday morning with you. Hello gummy bears AND Bowen? That's the PERFECT combination! And you need to read Bread & Wine next. I wasn't a fan of Present Over Perfect…I thought her prior book was better!

I'm so happy that Lindsey's baby is okay! That had to be so terrifying for them and the entire family, but I love when prayer warriors jump in! One more thing, when you said a neighbor called to say "a dog is in your trash". I literally thought like she heard a dog IN your trash can. I was like, "How in the world did that happen?" Hahahahahahaha!

Oh my goodness! If a dog had been stuck in my trash can, I'd have called you to help me get it out!

Try shorts from Loft. Hey have inseams from 3 1/2 inches to Bermuda length. I like their 6 inch inseam because I feel covered no matter what I do

Thanks Stephanie! I'll have to check them out. There's such a fine line between too short and too long. I used to wear J Crew's shorts but my legs are long and a three inch inseam just isn't cutting it.

I have been working my way thru Present Over Perfect for months. I have loved her previous books but am sad to say this one is falling a bit short. I agree with her overall theme but the writing feels a bit whiny and self indulgent. I find myself relating one minute and being annoyed by her tone the next. So sad because Bread and Wine is a favorite of mine.

I LOVED Bread and Wine so much and I agree with you and also had a hard time getting into Present Over Perfect. It didn't have the same affect on me as bread and wine did!! You look so happy lately, Erika, and your blog is really rocking in the New Year!

Hope that sweet baby is ok! Saying a prayer.
Shorts..I love the Loft Riviera Shorts…6 inch are perfect for me (but they come in other lengths too), not too short (for this 57 year old gram!)but not too long so I look frumpy!
They come in lots of colors and fun patterns. Keep your eye out for the new patterns this spring/summer

You need to get 4 inch shorts from Loft or Old navy. Short but not too short. 3 inch is a little too college for me 😉

I did not enjoy Present Over Perfect! I gave myself permission to stop halfway through. I thought the book came across whiny, and I could not relate to her struggles. Glad I borrowed it and didn't buy. Bread and Wine was much better!

Can I be an infertility pen pal? I was an infertility baby as well as my brothers who are twins. My 2 boys who are 2 and 5 are also a result of infertility drugs! I would love to be a pen pal!! Thanks!!

I second the vote for Old Navy's shorts. Their "everyday" shorts line is my favorite and it comes in a few inseam lengths. The 3 1/2" works perfect on me, I'm 5'5. They also have tons of colors and patterns and they wash really well. Also, I hope doggy found his way home! I know you're not a dog person but my doggy loving heart is feeling really bad for him/her.

Present Over Perfect is sitting on my nightstand right now. I literally bought it the day before Shay had it in a book review a few months back saying she didn't love it. Now I'm having difficulty motivating myself to start it. Glad you are liking at least parts of it. Sidetone: wondering if you have a "reply" button you could push when you are replying to comments? I love reading your comments, but sometimes I can't tell who you are replying to. 🙂

Hi Angela! If you look on a mobile device the replies make sense, but on a computer they're a mess. I need to work on that!

I have the 4 inch J Crew shorts, and they are a good length for me at 5'7, though maybe 5" would be a little more comfortable in public. You have thinner and tanner legs than me though! 🙂 Good to know about "Present over Perfect". I liked "Bread and Wine", but even it was a little un-relatable to me. Hope you're having a great weekend!!
