Friday Favorites-March 8th, 2019 Edition

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Time for some FRIDAY FAVORITES!
Be sure to check out my girls, Narci and Andrea, to see their Friday Favorites today as well.  My post today is pretty short and sweet.

Last Saturday afternoon, we met one of my college roomies at a play place in Frisco and then we hit up the mall and food court to round out our evening.  I haven’t been to the mall on a Saturday night in a LONG time.  Who knew it would be full of teenagers??  My kids kept saying, “There are so many teenagers here!”.  They were everywhere.  Very well-behaved I should add-but everywhere!  Now that my kiddos are older, errands like the mall on a Saturday night are a FAVORITE.  No one was throwing a fit, no one got lost, and we made sure to know where the closest potty was at all times.

It’s no secret Dateline-type shows are some of my FAVORITESShay told me about this documentary, Abducted in Plain Sight.  SO MANY QUESTIONS about this one but if you’re a documentary watcher-you should watch it!  I just started watching The Keepers.  If you have any recommendations, send them my way!

I’ve watched The Bachelor for YEARS but this past Monday’s episode WAS SO DRAMATIC!  My FAVORITE ever!  I have no doubts my hands were half covering my face the majority of the time.  My girl, Sheaffer, did not disappoint with her recap!  You need to read it now!

Today at 3:00 p.m. SPRING BREAK officially begins!  The Slaughter family cut town just a tad bit early to head out on our Spring Break adventure.  I’ll be taking next week off from blogging but be sure to follow along over on Instagram {slaughteren} and I’ll be back on Monday, March 18th!  In the mean time, I’d love to hear some of YOUR FAVORITES!

I loaded us up with my FAVORITE road trip snacks…Jalapeno Cheetos AND Cheesy Popcorn.  Don’t worry about my people-I grabbed their faves too!  Now please help a road trippin’ mama out!

Tell me…
*WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ROAD TRIP SONG?*
{Tab will love that I’m asking for these recommendations.}

*WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PODCAST?*

*While you’re sharing FAVORITES, DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DOCUMENTARY?*

Have the BEST week, Friends!  See you on the 18th!
XO

Have a great Spring Break! Okay one of my favorite road trip songs is One Headlight by The Wallflowers—I always throw this on when we’re driving and sing my heart out! 😂 It’s just a feel good song. We also just finished The Vietnam War documentary on Netflix, which is heavy but fascinating. The Queen of Versailles documentary is still one of my favorites—not sure if it’s still on Netflix or not. I’m following the comments for good recommendations as well!

Be safe! Our ski areas have had over 3 feet of snow in the past two days. Major avalanche situation. Check Cotrip.org as you hit Colorado. Vail pass was closed due to an avalanche yesterday. The snow is epic! We are heading up again this weekend, but super deep and super powder. Enjoy it. Best snow in years. If you come through Colorado Springs, I’d suggest taking the back way to the mountains and avoid Denver and the I70 parking lot. Stop at Cerberus for lunch, yummy! Take highway 24, 9, and go up over Hoosier pass. Gloriously beautiful. But above all have a blast. Colorado is the best!

A favorite road trip song is Sweet Home Alabama. I just like to belt that one out. And a favorite documentary is A Place at The Table about hunger in America. Another good one is G-Dog. It is about a Jesuit priest who has made a tremendous difference with gang members in the LA area.

If you love shows like Dateline, you will LOVE the Cold podcast. It's about the Susan Powell disappearance. So good. I also really liked Dirty John and Dr. Death. Both of which are also Dateline-ish.

Seems like you had a nice time at the mall with kids. I wouldn't mind teenagers as long as they are well behaved. I haven't seen The Bachelor show, not even one episode, but I know what it is about. I don't like reality TV because I'm never sure how real it really is. I prefer documentaries. One of my favourites are Planet Earth and Blue Planet by BBC. I also watched one interesting documentary called Toxic Fashion, I think it was French but I'm not sure.
