Friday Favorites-1.31.20

What a week!  It’s been a good one but why do I feel like it’s lasted 27 days instead of just five?

This is also how I’m feeling about the last week…

Dear Winter,
I’m still waiting for snow.  If it’s not happening for us this year, please pack up your things and return in December.
Love, Erika

It’s FRIDAY though so I’m talking FAVORITES with Andrea and Narci.

First up, is my obsession with Cheer on Netflix.  It’s a FAVORITE!  Have you watched?  I shared all the love in my post yesterday.  You should read!

Speaking of late Netflix FAVORITES, have you watched Virgin River?  I watched it while Britt was recovering and thought it was good!  I’m ready for Season 2!!

This is exactly how I finished both of those series over the last month.  I looked just like her.

Okay, I’m not calling this EXACT dessert a FAVORITE.  For some strange reason, I ordered two little pints of this, Arctic Zero, the last time I did grocery pick-up.  This Cake Batter and a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  I wasn’t a fan of the cake batter, but the cookie dough was really good.  If you’re gluten free or dairy free, I’d highly recommend these.  I am not, but was trying to find an alternative to my normal Cookies ‘N Cream ice cream for dessert and gave them a try.

Miss Britt’s recovery is definitely a FAVORITE from my week!  After her appointment on Tuesday, she can eat ANYTHING!  We still have to take it easy with straws and be careful when she’s being active BUT other than that-this girl is good to go!  I’ll have to share a side-by-side when it’s completely healed.  It looks SO GOOD!  I had to tell her doctor I was sorry for ever doubting him at the appointment on Tuesday.  I was so worried about how it would look knowing there’s nothing he can really tell me until he gets in there.  So, we went over and over it.  Needless to say, I never should have doubted him.  If you have a cleft cutie and are local to Dallas in need of a great doctor, message me and I’ll give you our recommendation.  We LOVE him!

A FAVORITE #ootd…when I’m working from home or {like yesterday} from Starbucks, I love a comfy cardigan.  It gives the illusion I’m wrapped up in a blanket while I work.  ha!  Everything I’m wearing is super old…especially the jeans {but they’re my FAVORITE!} except the shoes.  I got mine in the fall but these are super similar.  Earrings are still in stock.

My girlfriend, Jennifer, has a health coach business where she partners with clients to customize plans for them to achieve success.  Jennifer is fabulous and just recently started a podcast.  You know me and my love for podcasts so I listened this past week to her interview with Dr. Jeff Warren.  Dr. Warren was our pastor when Tab and I first began calling our current church home.  He is an incredible leader who is always so real with issues and topics happening in today’s world.  I was excited to listen and it was a FAVORITE from the week!  While, I’m strongly encouraging you to listen, my biggest takeaway had nothing to do with anxiety or depression {the podcast topic} but my screen time.  Our kiddos don’t have cell phones yet but this podcast hit me hard with what rules Tab and I have around our own screen time so that when the day does come for us to have kids with phones, it’ll be so much easier to implement the rules we expect from them.  Whether you’re someone who struggles with anxiety or depression or not, I’d love for you to take the thirty minutes to listen.  I hope it’ll be a bit of a gut check for you as well.

Okay, friends!  That wraps up my list for the week!  May your coffee be strong and your weekend feel really long!  Happy, Happy Friday!
XO

I am feeling that same way about winter. I'm trying not to complain as we haven't had much snowfall and I kind of like that but I keep watching the forecast waiting to see if/when that will change. So glad to hear your daughter is recovering well from her surgery!

Sorry about the snow thing, apparently it all dropped in MN and is here to stay. I agree with you, if it's going to be cold there might as well be snow!! I'm going to check out that podcast, thanks for sharing.

I LOVED Virgin River! I guess it is based on a book series by Robyn Carr, so I may pick up a couple of those to tide me over until Season 2. I kept hearing that it is similar to Hart of Dixie, so I binged that after I finished VR! Not quite as good as VR, but still entertaining!

I just cursed the snowflake that hit my nose on my way into work this morning, so you can have my Indy weather if you want it! 😉

I'm ready to see some sunshine! We've had snow on the ground (that's frozen to the ground) for too long now and I don't even remember when the sun was shining the last time, although this Sunday sounds promising for us here in IL! I've not watched much on Netflix or Hulu recently, thanks for the recommendations!
Hope you're having a good weekend!

Can.Not.Wait for Season 2 of Virgin River! I hear it isn't coming until late 2020. Have you read the books? I haven't and am wondering how closely the series followed them.

Thank you for the podcast. That was really good.
So many great things were said. Focus is the
beginning of true Devotion. Comparison is the thief of Joy!
