Friday Favorites-12.3.21

“Just hear those sleigh bells jingling”….has been in my head for the last 36 hours.  For Nixon’s fine art in middle school he chose band, gets to play percussion and just told me he thinks he’s playing the sleigh bell in the Christmas band concert.  Sleigh bell?  I’m sure every instrument is important but for some reason the sleigh bell makes me think maybe he doesn’t have a future as a drummer?  😂😂😂  I’ll keep you posted.  Maybe, just maybe he’s wrong.

Andrea and I are sharing our FRIDAY FAVORITES.  We’d love for you to join us.  Simply grab our graphic, link to us, and add your blog to the link up at the bottom of the post.  I have a big list of FAVES.  Get comfy cozy, friends!

Last week our family went up to Missouri to spend Thanksgiving with my family.  My moms’ parents surprised us when we arrived by being at my moms and joining us for lunch.  We arrived Tuesday and just chilled until Thanksgiving.  My parents live on acres of land so my kids love having all the wide open spaces.

Grandpa Hency has hearing aids too so Britt was super excited to match Grandpa.  Actually talking to him about this helped me a lot too!  And they happened to match on Thanksgiving.  😉

My mom hosted Thanksgiving so the family all came over.  So much fun!  It had been almost two years since we’d seen the entire group!

Bowen on the left and my cousin’s son, Beau, who Bowen thinks was named after him on the right.  Bowen taught him how to make lemonade.

They’re buddies.

I had THE BEST time getting to chat with these three.  Growing up my two cousins {on the left side} and I were super close.  Every holiday, big shopping trip to find the perfect Homecoming dress, and super long day trips to Six Flags were the most fun because they were by my side.  Now my sister-in-law is added to the mix and she makes everything a little sweeter.  Just a great group of girls, some of my FAVORITES!  We had a girl’s trip planned back in 2020 and had to cancel.  With eleven kids between us, it’s tough to find a time to get away when someone won’t miss something big.  We’ll make it happen soon!

This was exactly what I needed to hear when I panicked about none of Bowen’s birthday presents being at our house when we got home.  I was STRESSED!  Not to fear-they were there!  But I figured some of you might need the laugh if you’re stressing about Christmas gifts arriving.

On Bowen’s actual birthday it was super yucky, rainy outside so we chilled and watched one of the best days of college football.  The games were all so good!  And at the end of the night every team Bowen was rooting for happened to win!  Birthday wishes came true!

Ebby Lee made my FAVORITE nine-year-old, Bowen, a chocolate cake-it was yummy.

We had pizza, one friend had Crumbl cookies delivered, another friend dropped off a cool birthday present and he just had the best kind of day.

Sunday morning was one of my FAVORITE services of the entire year.  Our church has a kickoff to Christmas service and the two big kids participated.  Britt, Bowen, and I attended church the first service and then greeted for the other services.

Nixon and Smith were cast as “boys throwing snowballs”.  And they happened to nail their role if I do say so myself.  My FAVORITE guys on stage!  Ebby Lee was in the choir, but I missed getting a picture of her.

Almost daily I get a message from a reader saying that she just can’t believe I wear clothes from Walmart.  I’m not sure why because clearly she hasn’t been paying attention to the cute clothes Walmart currently has or she’d be wearing them too.  Just like my blog title, “A Little Bit of Everything”, that’s pretty much what my wardrobe is like.  A little athleisure, a little preppy, a little trendy, you get the idea.  Same goes for price points-I shop anywhere from Walmart to Neiman Marcus and everything in between.  I shared some super cute sweaters from Walmart I snagged and wore the white one on Monday.  If you missed the post, you can read here.

Here’s a little more proof…

This top I wore in Seattle received lots of messages.  It’s one of my FAVORITES!  Guess where it came from?  Walmart!

Here it is again back in 2020!

*************************

I popped into Walmart just this past week and spied these cute boots.  There were only two left and neither happened to be my size, but aren’t they cute?  If found in a 7, could have been a legit FAVORITE!  I can’t find them online either so peek in your local shoe department the next time you’re there.

A FAVORITE funny…I laughed and laughed when I read this.

That’s all I’ve got for you today!  I hope you have a festive, FAVORITE kind of weekend!

Happy Friday, Friends!

I have been buying a lot of home items from Walmart myself lately. Online is key for me.

    Happy Friday!

My daughter came in Thanksgiving in those boots. I thought they were darling. Asked her where she bought them. Proudly stated Walmart. They really have had some great things the last few years. There are a lot of items in my work clothes closet from there. Time and Tru is a favorite Walmart brand.

I was in band in high school, and Sleigh Ride was my all time favorite song we played! I played flute but was always jealous of all the fun things percussion got to do on that song. I still love it today!! And that last one about the drummer boy, hilarious!’

I never thought of the little drummer boy quite like that but now I know I'll never think of him any other way! LOL.

I posted for King & Country's 2019 CMA Christmas Little Drummer Boy and someone hit me up with that quote. But SERIOUSLY. . .I would LOVE to see that performance in person!!
A little Walmart note. . .years ago I was teaching 5th grade and boy, there are MEAN girls in that grade :(. It was a Title I school so you had all economic ranges. . .a few who obviously had some self-esteem issues could be very snarky about how other classmates dressed. One day I wore a new dress that I got at Walmart. The "mean" girls were all, "Mrs. Bell, I love your dress" and I curtsied and said, "you know where I got it?? Walmart! Isn't it great?!?". Couldn't have worked out better. They do have cute stuff. . .but I do find the shelf life of most of their items is limited (as with other retailers in that price point) but you proved that wrong showing how you've worn that blouse through the years.
Looks like you had a great week and lots of super memories to look back on 🙂
