Framily FUN Ideas

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I hope you had a nice, relaxing weekend and got all the upstairs’ closets organized.  Wait.  Maybe that was my goal for the weekend.  šŸ˜‰

But if it happened to be your goal too, hope you achieved it, friend!

I’m super pumped about today’s post!  I’m sharing a TON of FRAMILY NIGHT IDEAS and Shay is talking all about FRAMILY VACATION IDEAS.  You won’t want to miss it!

Seriously, this is me right now…

Framily nights are some of my absolute favorites so getting to share some ideas with you has me pumped.

The Urban Dictionary describes framily as “when friends become like family, they’re framily. closer than close, they may know you better than your own family.”

We’ve been friends with the Shull family for years, have kiddos the same ages, our kids go to the same elementary school together, and are on the same sports’ teams and we’re happy to call them FRAMILY.

We have other framily as well but for this post purpose I only pulled Shull/Slaughter pictures.  šŸ™‚

If you need some ideas for what to do with your FRAMILY, well look no further.  šŸ™‚  I’m sharing a ton of the things we do with our FRAMILY and maybe you’ll find a little inspiration.

*Trick-or-Treating-We get together with lots of framily for this every year.  Let me tell you, we have FUN!

*Lunch Out-We followed this day up with some time in the outdoor play area.  This doesn’t have to be something super planned out…grab some friends and meet them at Chick-Fil-A.

*Date Night-If we’re going out without the kiddos, then some of our favorite spots are Rick’s Chophouse, Sugarbacon, Javier’s, Mexican Sugar, and more.  There are so many new places we’ve heard of we tend to try something new every time we go!

*The Ice at the Gaylord-Sometimes you want to spice it up a bit and if you’re in the DFW area, this is a way to do it.  Checking out the Gaylord Texas around Christmas time is the perfect idea!

*Park Date-Getting together with your framily doesn’t always have to be something that costs a lot of money, it can be as simple as a packed lunch at the park.

*Day Trip-About an hour and a half from us is a huge flea market, Shay and I loaded up our people and made it a day trip.  I’m not sure what’s near you…maybe a big park, antique mall, amusement park…whatever it may be I dare you to load your people up and make a day out of it.

*Play Dates-This picture cracks me up.  I’m pretty sure sure I let Ashby pick their show and someone wasn’t happy about it.  ha!

*Pumpkin Patch-When my kiddos were little, we made this a big family affair, but now with fall sports and older kids it’s not something we carve out of our schedule to do each year.  So, we made it a framily thing with the littles.
*Football Game-We hit up our local high school’s Friday night football game and had a lot of fun!

*Valentine’s Dance-Our elementary school hosts a dance for everyone, but if yours doesn’t, you can grab tickets to a dance near you.

*Another Date Night-And another different restaurant.  We love our loud and crazy crew of kiddos but it’s so nice getting out for some adult conversation every once in a while.

*Pool Dates-Know what’s more fun than swimming alone in your backyard?  Swimming with your FRAMILY!

*Carriage Ride-We started this tradition years ago-of getting together to do something Christmas related around the holidays.  This carriage ride idea was a FAVORITE for everyone so it stuck and is a yearly thing now.
*Backyard Boat Ride-Even more proof that a FRAMILY night doesn’t have to cost a dime.

*Fall Festival-Shay and I both saw a sign a couple years ago for this Fall Festival Night.  Neither of us had gone before and decided we’d all go together.  My kiddos would have had fun at the festival alone, but they had way more fun with framily.

*Coloring in the Kitchen-Sometimes it’s just about being with your people.  Even if you’re in the kitchen floor in your pajamas.  ha!

*Manicures/Pedicures-Some girl time away is always much needed.  Am I right, Mamas?

*Haunted House-We took our big kiddos to a local haunted house this past year and they LOVED it!  Standing in line, I got a bit nervous that we were giving up nights full of sleep for nights full of nightmares and bad dreams, but I was way wrong.  Our kiddos loved it, I’m telling you!  Highly recommend this for older kiddos!

*Movie Date-We just happened to watch the BEST MOVIE EVER {that I can’t stop talking about} on this date.

*Dinner Out-We have a really cool area near us that has restaurants, a cool play area for kids, and lots of fun shops.  One of our favorite places to go {especially when the weather is nice} is out to dinner and then let the kiddos play in this park area.  On this particular day, Bowen threw Nixon’s shoe in the water and we were fishing it out.  #brothers

*Night Out-On this night, we met up for dinner to celebrate Shay’s birthday.

*More Pool Dates-Or maybe I should title this one “Stroller Dates”.  These boys have been hanging for years pool side.

*Holiday Fun-We get together for burgers, some sun, and lots of pool time.

*The Polar Express-Another Christmas night out.  I know lots of close families do a little gift exchange with their kiddos for Christmas.  But do your kiddos really need more toys?  Instead of doing that, we decided to purchase tickets to a Christmas event together {Like The Polar Express} or make reservations for a carriage ride.  The memories are totally worth it!

What about you?  What do you enjoy doing with your FRAMILY?  Please share your favorite FRAMILY night!

And don’t forget to check out Shay’s blog for some FRAMILY vacation ideas!

I don't have kids yet, but when I do I hope to find a Framily like you all. Growing up, I had that and we were unofficially called the "Friday night group" as at least once a month on a Friday night, we would have a game night or dinner party.
