Hey Ladies!!  It’s been a while for a little entertainment chat so I thought it was time.  You guys always have the best recommendations so not only do I love sharing-I truly love getting some new ideas from you!  This is what I’ve been reading/watching lately…

Several of my books this month were books recommended by Amazon.  You know how Amazon will show you “books also purchased by other customers who bought this book”?  Well, apparently this month I did a lot of shopping in that section.  ðŸ™‚

This book is all about change-whether it’s a new job in a new town, a mama with a new baby, or a new diagnosis-change happens to us all.  Kristen helps you see a new side of change.  The side that isn’t so bad. We’re told that God never leaves us or forsakes us and that’s even referring to change!  ha!  Crazy to believe sometimes.  Isn’t it?

First of all, I’m a big fan of Karen Ehman, so I was pumped when I heard this new book was coming out.  Hoodwinked tackles ten myths that moms face-from being able to do it all to believing your way is the right way.  This was a quick refreshing read that left me rallying behind all of us.  We’re all doing it our way and we’re all surviving.  A great read for any mom!

I absolutely loved Leah Remini in King of Queens and that’s pretty much all I knew about her.  I watched her interview last fall about Scientology (it was SO intriguing), so I was pumped about reading this book.  I loved it!  In Troublemaker, she shares her life’s journey, her ups and downs with Scientology, and how her life has been going since she chose to leave Scientology.  I finished the book a huge Leah Remini fan!  I’d definitely recommend this one.

Thanks again, Amazon for this recommendation.  ðŸ˜‰  This book took me a bit to get into, but once I got started I found myself invested in Emily’s story.  She shares her own story about struggles with eating disorders, trying to get pregnant, and choosing peace over fear.

I just finished reading this book and oh my goodness, it was a tough one.  Kara shared her beautiful story about grace and faithfulness as she fought to overcome her battle with cancer.  As the mother to four children she tackled those tough conversations with so much grace. She has the kind of faith I can only hope I’d have when faced with such difficult circumstances.  I cried throughout the story, but it was a great book.  Taught me a lot about tackling hard things and choosing God’s grace to cover all the hard places.  Definitely recommend it!

I’m always on the look out for good family-friendly movies.  My big kids are hitting the age where they want to watch real-people movies not animated movies as much.  If you have any good recommendations, please share.  I’d love them even more if they were on Netflix.  ðŸ™‚

Nixon is a big dog fan so if a movie has been made about a dog-we’ve probably seen it.  Most of them are just kind of -eh but this movie was GOOD!  I was into and might have even shed a tear.

Alvin and the Chipmunks-The Road Chip
The kiddos and I watched this movie while we were in Nashville.  It was so cute!  My kids loved it and what adult doesn’t enjoy Alvin and the Chipmunks, right??  If I’m going to watch an animated movie, please give me the chipmunks!  ðŸ™‚

The Real Housewives of Atlanta
One of my favorite guilty pleasures is RHOA.  These girls know how to bring the drama and I get sucked in EVERY season!

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
I feel the same way about these ladies!  I just can’t say “NO”!!
If you’re watching, who is your fave??  I’m a huge Lisa Rinna fan!  I love that girl!  (Well-not cool that she even brought up that Yolanda could potentially be making up her disease, but other than that-I love her!)

Breaking Bad
This has been our post-football season show!  We watch an episode almost every night and it’s SO good!  (We-as in Tab and I-NOT the kids…definitely a rated R show!)

The Bachelor
AHH!!!  The Bachelor is back and it just makes me happy.  I get into this show every year.  Bachelor…I just can’t quit you.  Do you guys have a favorite??

What are you guys watching and reading right now??

We rented Pan (thanks to free coupons from redbox) and it was awful. On the other hand, my son who is 3, loved it. Go figure. I'll have to check out Max. We've tried showing him the older Alvin movies and he didn't seem to dig them, but maybe I'll try again in a few months. Like you, I get ideas on Amazon. I also like reading the book reviews in the People Magazine. I love the local library because I can check out new releases (books and movies). I read The Lake House by Kate Morton which was excellent. I'm currently reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (I'm liking it so far). As for TV shows, I'm watching a lot of Hallmark movies these days :). And I DVR'd J Lo's new series but haven't been able to watch the first episode yet.

I am pretty much obsessed with Making a Murderer. Man in the High Castle was amazing as well, it's if the Nazi party won WWII. For lighter stuff, Master of None is absolutely hilarious.

For the kids, my 6 year old loves Everyone's Hero. A cute baseball movie. My 9 year old is counting down until Fuller House is available on Netflix. Both kids are obsessed with Star Wars, The Force Awakens.

I am so afraid to watch animal movies. They are always sad, in my opinion. Was Max super sad?

My husband and I are fans of keeping The Office and Parks and Recreation in constant rotation! I was intrigued by Breaking Bad and liked to first episode but I just couldn't it was too "bad" for me. Hoping that you get some good suggestions so that I can add them to my list!

Like so much of the world I was obsessed with Making of a Murderer on Netflix. Also on Netflix "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce" is now available to stream. It is better than I'd thought, almost has a Sex & the City vibe.

My youngest daughter lived for real (not cartoon) dog movies…all of them!! Her favorites were the Air Bud movies (particularly the original and the Air Buddies series), Hotel for Dogs (very cute), Beverly Hills Chihuahua (might be too girly for your boys), Benji (the original), Because of Winn Dixie (awesome), Eight Below (great movie and a little sad…also has one slightly scary scene – might be okay for your older two but might scare Bowen – you can preview that scene on You Tube and see for yourself), Snow Dogs (cute), Cats and Dogs (painful for adults but my girl loved it), White Fang (your kids might need to be a little older for this one)and Where the Red Fern Grows (definitely meant for older kids but it's a wonderful classic movie). An older cartoon dog movie that my girls LOVED is Balto. When we went to NYC this summer, we had to find Balto's statue and take pictures (my girls are now 20 and 14 so this movie meant a lot to them)!!

As far as recommendations – someone mentioned the Air Bud movies, my kids loved those. Other ideas: American Girl movies, Nanny McPhee, Night at the Museum, Spy Kids, Dolphin Tale, High School Musical. Have a good day!

As far as books, I am almost finished with After You. You need to read Me Before You first. It's excellent. And, obviously watching the Bachelor 🙂
