Entertainment with Erika

Hey Ladies!!  First things first…thank you SO much for all your input on the kiddo’s bathroom.  As crazy as it sounds, I think I’m going to take my very favorite things about the first bathroom and pair it with some stripes.  Again…thank you so much for your help!

This is what’s been going on around here…
THE STOMACH BUG!!!  UGH!  Luckily, (so far) it’s a super quick bug that’s lasting only about 24 hours.

Stomach Bug-4
Slaughter Family-1
Poor Ebby Lee…either she has an immunity of steel or it just hasn’t hit yet!

I think it’s time for another installment of Entertainment with Erika!!  I’ve read several books lately and am so excited to share.

It’s no secret that I’m a big “Housewives” fan.  Carole Radziwill (the author) is on the Real Housewives of New York.  I love her on the show, so as soon as Shay was finished reading this fiction novel I started reading.  To be honest, this wasn’t my favorite book.  It just took me a while to get into and was kind of “Eh”.

However, I also read Carole’s What Remains, and I LOVED it!!  It’s a memoir about her life.  Extremely interesting and it made me a big fan of hers!  She’s been through so much!  If you’re a Housewives fan, I’d for sure check this one out!

Hands down my very favorite book this month!!  Annie Downs, Let’s All Be Brave, was FABULOUS!!  I loved the writing.  It was a super quick read, but it definitely spoke to me!!  Grab this ASAP, Ladies!!

I’m usually a BIG Nicholas Sparks fan, but this time…I wasn’t feeling it.  I’m not sure if it was just a little predictable OR the fact the affair that happens in the book is supposed to be who you’re cheering for (I thought anyway) to work?  I don’t know.  This was wasn’t a Nicholas Sparks fave for sure.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I can’t WAIT to watch Gone Girl!!

With Tab and his football schedule, the fall is tough!!  We love watching television together, but in the fall there is NO TIME!  So…we usually have to catch up on shows in the spring/summer.  Anyway, Real Housewives’ fans…what did you think of the Real Housewives of New Jersey this week??  Seeing everyone’s reactions to the Giudices’ sentencing had me crying!!

What do you think….did Teresa know what they were doing??  Or was she in the dark?  Either way…I feel for those kiddos.  Can you imagine??

If you have any must-read (or watch) recommendations, please let me know!!!  Thank you!!

I love, love, love that we read the same books and watch the same TV shows (except for Big Brother, I promise to watch it next year!!). And I love that we had the exact same reaction to all of the books (and the RHONJ). Can't wait to see Gone Girl with you! I might sit on the opposite side of the theater as to avoid the bug ;).

Praying Ebby Lee has an immunity of steel and not the latter! And I hope everyone else is feeling much better! I love this little series, and I'm definitely going to have to pick up Let's Be Brave … I've heard such great things! I just read 'Secrets Over Sweet Tea' by Denise Hildreth Jones and LOVED it! A quick, Southern breezy novel that asked a lot of hard questions. It's my newest recommendation! 🙂

Gone Girl is SO GOOD! I read the memoir of Carole Radziwill but maybe I'll skip the other one?

I cried too! That Theresa might be crazy, but she seems like a very loving mother. Poor kids! 🙁

Oh I was wondering about that Nicholas Sparks book, cause the movie is coming out. It didn't look like a movie that I HAD to see. I'm currently reading a Lee Child Book (his Jack Reacher Series) but I have Gone Girl on my night stand waiting to be read. Glad that you liked it.

I am also a Real Housewives fan. I love all of them-I was shocked at the New Jersery housewives, I do believe she knew 100 % I mean come on-really. Your spending money left and right and you don't know I don't buy it not one bit. I do feel sorry for her girls, its sad really. As parents you just have to think about the things you do and the choices you make and how they will have an affect on your family especially your kids.

Morgan…you're so right!! I read all those "Something" books and loved them, but this Nicholas Sparks book was different to me. Have you read it? She had kids. I don't know…it didn't work for me.

I had another comment that made my sense out of my "ps" but I don't know where it went! I did read The Best of Me…..it wasn't my favorite. I didn't like the ending. I felt like with the affair they at least needed to make it worth it. And it was just kind of odd to me. I'm getting ready to start his newest book The Longest Ride. Hoping I like those better. Have you read any more of the Emily Giffin books besides Something Borrow and Something Blue?

The one and only was my favorite I think and made me think of you because it was so focused on football :).

Love Real Housewives!! If the stomach bug hits again, have unaffected family members drink 100% grape juice. I swear by it… We also drink it if it's going around as a precaution. I used to get it at least once a year and haven't had it since trying the grape juice.

I agree with your comments about The Best of Me. Not my favorite of his but he's still one of my favorite authors. I also love Emily Giffin. You should check out Karen Kingsbury's 9-11 series and Between Sundays.
