Destin Beach Vacation-Part 1

Day 1:
Friday we loaded up and started our trek to Destin, Florida.  Our plan was to stop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the night (which is about halfway).  We stopped about two hours out of town to enjoy some Texas barbeque before we were in the land of seafood.  ðŸ™‚

What is a road trip without a little junk food??  This is hands-down my favorite candy bar, but I only let myself indulge on long road trips.  Chocolate and peanut butter make everything better.

Day 2:
We arrived in Baton Rouge, had dinner, and went to bed early so we’d be raring to go early the next morning.  These two didn’t disappoint.  They were up and at ’em jumping on the beds before 7:00!

Excited about FINALLY making it to the tunnel in Mobile.

We arrived!!!  WAHOO!!  Just in time for a late lunch at The Crab Trap.

Ebby Lee and M

These crazy boys were pumped about being out of the car!

Pumped about spending a week with these cuties on the beach.

Absolutely love this view!!

Day 3:
These two were ready to hit some waves.

The big kiddos were ALL about the beach and ocean.

Just for fun…Tab and Nix on the beach in 2012.  When Nixon was two, he was NOT a fan of the beach or the sand.

We didn’t even take this on purpose, but Tab and Bowen on the beach in 2015.  Bowen at two wasn’t a fan of the beach or sand either.  haha!

Ebby Lee found a bucket full of clams and wanted to walk up to every single person on the beach to show them.

This kid wasn’t digging it.  He got a little better everyday, so by Friday he could totally hang.

We went in for lunch.  Ebby Lee decided to have a wardrobe change, and then we hit up the pool in the afternoon.

Ready for round #2!

We all came in, got ready, and went to Harbor Dock’s for some yummy sushi and seafood.

So thankful for this guy!!!  He makes everything more fun.

Bowen fell asleep in the car on the way to dinner and stayed asleep until the food arrived.  That’s my boy!!  haha!

Again…just for fun.  In 2012, Nixon fell asleep at restaurants too!

Our table was right above these docks.  We ordered our food.  Ebby Lee ordered fish (that’s important in a second).  Then a boat that had been fishing pulled in.  They cleaned and cut up their fish right in front of us.  So…when Ebby Lee’s fish arrived home girl could NOT do it!  Bless her heart!  Luckily, her brother ordered chicken and shared!

Our crew after dinner 🙂

Day 4:
These two were all about some boogie boarding this year.

They took a quick minute to pause for a picture.

Bowen was good if you were holding him.  No big deal to lug a thirty pound two-year-old around in the sand, right??

We hit up the pool a little earlier on Tuesday.  Thanks to Mrs. Sally, Bowen jumped and swam around the entire pool with his puddle jumper.

We cooked in on Tuesday and made Mix and Match Mama’s Bacon and Bleu Burgers.  They were DELISH!  Tuesday night was movie night on the lawn.  Our condos showed The Lego Movie.  Something makes an outdoor movie SO much cooler than watching it indoors.

And we ended the night with some crab hunting on the beach.  Can we take a minute to check out Ebby Lee’s face?!  hahaha!!  This picture doesn’t do the crab hunting justice.  We had a blast looking for crabs.  When we spotted one, we’d all scream and act like fools.  So much fun!

We can’t take credit for all those.  This was someone else’s bucket, but check out that BIG crab!!

We spotted this AMAZING sand castle creation.  I’m not sure who was responsible, but it was so cool!

Our beach vacation was off to a great success!!!  Part 2 is coming soon!
