Currently-January 2019 Edition

Periodically, I like to do a post about what I’m CURRENTLY thinking about at the moment.  I think it’s time for another.  I’m inviting you to take a little look at what’s going on inside of my head.
It’s kind of like this…right??

Making:  A big old MESS!  This time EVERY SINGLE YEAR I do my best to organize my entire life.  Does it ever happen?  Absolutely not!  But I have the best of intentions about every cabinet, every closet, and every drawer looking like it’s straight out of The Container Store magazine.  I’ve checked off my office, the front room, and the shoe closet {which I’m feeling SO good about but when I type it out-it doesn’t seem like much}.  I realize I must make a mess before I see results so I’m trying to embrace the mess knowing it’ll lead to good things.  Anyone else?

Cooking:  On the menu tonight is Shay’s Sausage and Potato Chowder.  My kiddos are big fans of anything with that turkey sausage so I should have four happy kiddos at dinner time.

Drinking:  All the coffee, celery juice {kind of-I’m gonna share more thoughts on this tomorrow}, water and tea…on repeat.  These are my go-tos.

Eating:  If I’m being honest, WAY too many of those Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups and pretty much anything with that Trader Joe’s Hot and Sweet Pepper Jelly.

Reading:  I’ve taken a bit of a pause on my “reading game”.  Instead I’ve been binge watching Netflix like it’s my job.  😉  I’m slowly making my way through Something in the Water though and I’ll pick it back up soon.

Wanting:  To snap my fingers and have my ENTIRE house organized.  Or at least have my family wear the same clothes for a couple days in a row so when I’m working on decluttering/organizing I don’t get SO FAR BEHIND on laundry.  Think I could talk my people into the same clothes for days?

Looking:  I’m looking around my house for ONE HUNDRED of anything I can send to school with Bowen.  In kindergarten at our elementary school, they celebrate the 100th Day of School with lots of fun activities.  One happens to be every kiddo brings in one hundred of something, but what do I have one hundred of around my house?

Playing:  The odds with Britt in big girl panties…hahahaha!  I really possess no skills when it comes to potty training.  I’d like to call Potty Nanny {someone similar to Super Nanny, who could potty train my girl in a day or two?}.

Wasting:  Space…WHY have I been storing so many things we don’t need or use?  This ends NOW!

Buying:  New workout clothes because know what inspires me to head to the gym??  A cute new workout outfit!  Athleta is my favorite place to purchase new workout gear.

Sewing:  Oh my!  Have I told you in our very first house I sewed the window treatments for our master bedroom?  They happened to be long panels BUT I added some trim.  If you guys had seen the outfit I made in home economics my freshman year of high school, you’d have been SO impressed with my curtains.  Trust me.

Wishing:  I was heading out on any of the vacations we’re sending Mix and Match clients on right now.  Do you have Spring Break plans?  Summer plans?  Fall Break plans?  Or even holiday plans?  If you’d like some help with an upcoming vacation, please shoot us an e-mail at mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com.  We’d LOVE to help!

Loving:  These semi-quiet weeks before spring nights are full of baseball, practices, and ALL the end-of-year activities.  My kiddos are in activities right now but it’s a much slower time than it will be in about six weeks.  I’m enjoying the calm before the storm.

Hoping:  My skiing skills have dramatically improved since the last time I skied.  Hahahaha!  Is this possible?

Marveling:  At how Sheaffer watches a Bachelor episode and comes up with SO MANY FUNNY things to say.  If you watch the Bachelor or even if you don’t, you HAVE to read her recaps.  They’re seriously…THE BEST!

Smelling:  My favorite lavender body wash…I JUST got out of the bath tub.  It smells DIVINE!

Wearing:  I’ve mentioned I’m in crazy organizational mood around here and I’m slowly making my way to bedroom closets.  In the mean time, I’ve been pulling items out that I know I need to get rid of.  WHY am I doing this?  It’s like I’m wearing it ONE MORE TIME before bidding it farewell.  Is this a thing?  I’m not sure what Marie Kondo or Emily Ley or Ruth Soukup would have to say about this method?
Praying:  For Holt and his family…if you missed his story, you can read all about it here.  Please join me in praying for this sweet boy and his family.

Noticing:  Celebrity Big Brother has started again…WHAT?!!  How’d I miss this?  Thankfully, my DVR knew I’d want to watch and it recorded the show for me.  I’ve gotta watch.  Anyone watching?  If so, what are you thinking?

Knowing:  Even if Celebrity Big Brother is awful, I’ll still watch.  I.  JUST.  CANNOT.  QUIT.  THAT.  SHOW.  Wait-Kandi from Real Housewives Atlanta?  I’m IN!

Thinking:  I need to place a grocery pick-up order STAT.  My local grocery store has this and it’s simply amazing!  I can even place my order early in the morning and grab my groceries later that day.  It makes grocery shopping and meal planning SO MUCH EASIER!  Where was this when I had little kiddos?  I remember the very first time I took twelve month old Ebby Lee and freshly born Nixon to the store.  I pulled in to grab a few things and this particular store didn’t have grocery carts in the parking lot.  I parked and then froze…how was I gonna carry a newborn in a carrier, a purse/diaper bag, and my twelve month old who wasn’t walking well yet into the store?  I decided to switch grocery stores and I parked right next to the cart return.

Opening:  An Amazon package with some decor for our upcoming Murder Mystery Dinner.  I ordered just a few decor things to use and they started arriving.

Giggling:  At Britty’s dance moves…she makes the funniest faces {kind of duck face-ish?} while she dances.  It’s my FAVORITE!

Feeling:  Thankful for YOU, if you’re still reading.  😉

XO

My mom is a second grade teacher and one of her students once brought in 100 cotton balls/colored poofy craft type balls glued to a piece of construction paper in the shape of “100”. Just an idea for something easy for Bowen!

I feel like I could have written half of this! I have been eating wayyyy too many of those dark chocolate peanut butter cups, too. And doing all the binge watching instead of reading. And wearing things 'one last time', haha. Or more like, let me wear this again to see if I should realllly get rid of it, or if it has a few more wears in it. 🙂 Happy Wednesday!

Ughhh I do the same thing with our organization every January and by mid spring it looks like I had never started. Need more hours in the day during spring and summer.
I haven’t watched Big Brother since Jeff and Jordan were on — how long ago was that?! 😂🤭 But I may have to watch this season since my cousin knew Jonathon Bennett through show choir — she was even his date to his senior prom. And he grew up 20 miles from my hometown!
I’m intrigued with what you’ll do for Bowen’s 💯 day of school!

You will do amazing at skiing! The more you ski, the more you get addicted to it. When’s the trip? This weekend in Breckenridge are the International Snow Sculpture competitions! Simply amazing things to see if you’re up here! We head up every year for the weekend. The soup looks great! Will put on the todo list for next week.

One hundred broken crayon pieces! Every home with young kids have lots of those!!!
We did this several times for my all of my kids' 100th day of School celebrations.
They can arrange them and tape them on a poster board – we usually arranged them by rainbow colors.

For one hundred days of school I used a glue gun and glued one hundred googly eyes and it was a huge hit. My daughter still talks about that shirt.
