HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
What a wild week we’ve had! But boy, oh boy was it fun! I hope your 2020 is off to such a great start as well. I’m so happy to be back with you today and cannot wait to share all our vacation pictures! I promise you-the posts are coming! 🙂
A couple things first…
*You guys are AMAZING! I’ll get into this later in my vaca posts, but your messages, e-mails, texts, and comments meant so very much to me over our trip!
*If you’ve been reading here a while and follow along on Instagram then you know I can suffer from totally-forgetting-to-post-for-a-week-at-a-time-syndrome. That’s my Instagram New Year’s Resolution. {Is there such a thing? hahaha!} Post more frequently! Make sure you’re following along!
*Remember that survey I shared in December? THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to fill that out! I have a fun line-up of post ideas and am so excited to get 2020 rolling with lots of new content.
*If you’re a blogger and are looking for link-ups/planning your 2020 blog calendar, this is what I’ll be hosting with friends in 2020…
Friday Favorites-new year, new graphic-thanks to Andrea. Every Friday, you should join us and link-up with your favorites!
Let’s Look…a monthly link up where Shay and I take a peek at the little things in our life. The second Wednesday of every month, we invite you to join us.
The 2020 line-up.
And the third Tuesday of every month, Fancy Ashley and I host Tuesday Talk…where we invite you to chit chat about anything and everything. New graphic is coming!!
In the mean time {and because it would pain me to go out of chronological order-THAT’S THE TRUTH-hahahaha!} let’s travel back…all the way back to Christmas Eve 2019. This is how my family spent the holiday this year. We spent the morning being super lazy and getting last minute things ready for Christmas…wrapping presents, prepping food, etc. and then made our way to the Christmas Eve service at church. We met up with family to attend the service and then the Slaughters stayed back to cause some ruckus on the streets scream and wave at cars driving by volunteer.
The weather was amazing!! While many of the people driving by were headed to the service and we knew them through church, we saw lots of people driving to downtown McKinney we knew as well. It was the best little thirty minutes of spreading Christmas cheer.
These sweet friends of mine were greeting at the front doors…Karla and Narci.
Then we made our way to dinner. Typically, we like to drive the mile or two after church to downtown McKinney but our Christmas Eve go-to restaurant shut down. This year we opted for a dinner in Dallas at Bob’s complete with a drive around Highland Park to check out those lights just one more time.
Nixon loves a steak dinner.
And so do these two.
Such a great evening with family.
Christmas morning was fabulous {and very blurry}! Everyone got a new bike so right after breakfast we all set out to ride those and we basically stayed outside until I was scrambling to get us all ready in time for Marla’s that evening. The weather was amazing, we visited with almost all of our neighbors at some point, and just had a nice relaxing day.
Is this what your house looks like Christmas morning too?
The kids knew we were all going to California for the Rose Bowl, but one of them had mentioned Disneyland and we just said we probably wouldn’t have enough time. But on Christmas morning, they all opened a present saying-“Disneyland Tickets”!! They were so excited! Like I said, the vacation posts are coming-part one is up tomorrow!
That evening we went to Marla’s for dinner. Her backyard patio was looking so good for Christmas.
Three Slaughter girls.
Four 🙂
Hope your day was filled with lots of love.
I’m super excited for this little space on the internet and all the fun we have in store for 2020. Thanks so much for following along!
XO

As we’ve gotten older our morning ritual has certainly changed! First coffee… then reading your blog!!! I read it first and then hand my phone over to G!!! Who fumbles to find his glasses and by the way has learned now to scroll up and ask questions like, why is there a line through those words? Why all the ads? How does she do that? We LOVE you Erika!! ❤️❤️❤️ We knew it the first day Tab brought you over and y’all did the Dirty Dancing move where you run into his arms and he holds you up over his head!! Here’s to another year of answering Gary’s questions!!!🍸🍾🥂
Such great pictures and looks like a fun time spent with family!
Can't wait for vacay pics!! And I'm still loving that shorter hair on you!! I've been re-watching some of Jason's season on the Bachelor and I've decided you remind me of Molly Mesnick. I think I always thought that and never could place it!
