Bringing Home Britt-Post Adoption 10 Months

Oh my goodness, friends!  TEN MONTHS!

Can you believe it?  I hope you can tell from the pictures Miss Britt has gone from quiet, very reserved, and guarded to a sweet, often spicy (she can hang with her older siblings) bundle of joy that has us all wrapped around her finger!

This past month I’ve noticed major leaps and bounds in her receptive language.  Well, maybe I should add that I REALLY paid attention this month to see how much she understands and it’s a LOT!

Just yesterday, we were reading some books and I asked if she wanted to sing, “The Wheels on the Bus”.  We have that book, but we haven’t read it in a while, but she instantly started looking under the coffee table and in her basket of toys for the book.  I knew exactly what she was doing and was surprised she even remembered.

She might very well be the pickiest eater on my entire street.  I’m trying not to worry about it one bit because she’s still growing so that just might be her. (Our pediatrician’s words)  She just might be teeny!

Speaking of growing, she’s on the cusp of outgrowing all her 12-18 month clothes!! WAHOO!  This is HUGE!  I’d say the perfect fit would be a 12-18 and a half.  ha!  The 18-24 month options can be a little too long in the arm, but the length in her legs is perfect.

She also is now wearing a size 3 in shoes!  I’m telling you…we’re growing.  Slowly, but surely. 😉

We’re still working a ton on words and it is slow going, but then I look back at how far we’ve come and am completely overwhelmed.  You guys she was JUST sitting when we got her ten months ago.  Not crawling, not walking, not climbing, not pulling up….just sitting.  And now she can run down the driveway WITHOUT falling, climb the steps, and do this…

Take a peek at what’s for dinner.  🙂

She loves Tab and gets so excited when he gets home from work, but I’m still her favorite person.  #mamasgirl

What can I say she has our hearts…ALL FIVE OF THEM!

I mentioned yesterday that I’m working on a post-all cleft related.  I’m by no means an expert, but I think it would be helpful to new cleft mamas to have a post they could read full of information.  If you have anything to share (I’m talking best way to feed your cleft baby, best sippy cup you used, etc.).  Please send me an e-mail alittlebitofeverything83@yahoo.com.  THANK YOU to all the mamas who’ve sent in some GREAT ideas already!

I’ll never be able to put into words how much adoption has affected our family and me as a person, a wife, and a mom.  I look back on this and think WHY did we wait so long to take that leap of faith.  Adoption is amazing.  If God has laid adoption on your hearts, it’s there for a reason.  Please know I’m praying for you today.

She is the sweetest little thing!! Isn't it the most incredible, humble thought that out of ALL the people in this world, God crossed your paths and knit your hearts together to become a family? Amazes me every time. And I agree with you one hundred percent- if God has placed the idea or longing of adoption in your heart, move on it! He is faithful through it all!

I love watching Britt growing and changing. She was so subdued in the beginning but now she seems full of life and happy to be with her people. It's fun to see pics of Britt with the rest of the family and how the kids are with her. Now it's hard to remember your family without Britt.
