Birthday Party Full of Boys

I want to start this post off by saying that I’ve come a LONG way in the birthday department.

Whew!!!!

And the truth is, it feels REALLY good.

Pretty much the day I had Ebby Lee I started thinking about her first birthday party.  I chose a “candy” theme, tried to incorporate anything and everything “candy”, invited lots of people and we had ourselves a BIG OL’ PARTY!  I remember working on decorations the month prior to us even celebrating!

Our family of three…about to be four in just a few more days ready to PARTY!

One of the ladies I taught with had just opened up a bakery specializing in cakes and she made the CUTEST cake.
It was the PERFECT day, but I’m so glad we’ve reached that sweet spot of kiddos having preferences for their parties and for me allowing them to have some independence in what THEY want.  It’s a GREAT place to be.  🙂

When Nixon asked for a football party at the park, I LOVED the idea.  The closer we got to planning it though, I started panicking about the weather.  The spring in Texas can be all kinds of crazy and WHAT would I do with a bunch of eight-year-old boys at the last minute if it rained??  I saw an Insta Story from Andrea where she was sharing an indoor Nerf War party spot.  I called her to discuss thinking MAYBE we should go that route and as we were talking she told me she was having Mason’s party at Fieldhouse USA in Frisco, and that sounded like something Nixon would LOVE!

Just a few hours after getting off the phone with her, I’d booked his party!

Fieldhouse USA was the PERFECT spot for a party FULL OF BOYS!

We had access to this party room (which happened to be RIGHT across from the turf field).  Since Nix was hoping to play football, we put the turf field on hold for the party.  He got to pick two other sports, but decided on just kickball and flag football.

We arrived and the party hostesses had sports’ plates set up and ready!

The party was from 6-8 p.m. last Saturday night and they served the boys dinner.  They started the party by asking everyone their order.

Then we hit the field…
A panoramic of my view 🙂

They started the night with a big game of kickball.

I should add-Bowen came to the party and played!  I was expecting him to get upset, not be able to hang, and the boys be frustrated he was slowing them down.  But you guys!  Those boys were so sweet to him!

Halfway through party time, we sent them all to get drinks and then flag football was next.

During flag football, Bowen “sacked” the quarterback by fulling his flag and his team went crazy.  He had the biggest smile on his face and was pumped!  One kiddo even picked him up.  Made his DAY!

Then it was DINNER TIME!

We picked up a cake that afternoon at our local grocery store because #fancyparty.

And I’m not sure WHAT face this is, but it’s the only picture I have of him alone!

After dinner and cake, they had a few minutes to run amuck on the field (probably their favorite part of the night) before the night ended.

This location is about twenty minutes from our house so I offered to drive the boys to the party-just to save the parents a drive on a Saturday night.  The boys were good, but let me tell you….eight-year-old boys are LOUD!

The parents were all at our house to pick up when we arrived and then this was us after a party with sixteen boys…
hahaha!

Relaxing on the couch!

If you have a sports’ lovin’ boy like mine and you’re local, I’d highly recommend this spot for a party!  And the night we were gonna have the party at the park, it HAILED here so I’m so glad we moved the location.

Happy Thursday, Everyone!
