Back to School 2018

After ten weeks of an incredible summer, my three big kiddos are headed BACK TO SCHOOL.  Today is the first day and I have three excited, tad bit nervous, and probably really tired {because we didn’t practice those early bedtimes and early wake-ups…just did it cold turkey} kids on my hands who are ready for a great year.

Nixon is headed into third grade and we’re super excited about his teacher.  She’s been at our school for a while and is fabulous.

Ebby Lee starts fourth grade.  Pictured above is her home room teacher who’s new to our school but was so stinkin’ sweet at Meet the Teacher she managed to capture Ebby Lee’s heart in under five minutes.  She switches classes and teachers this year-which is a BIG DEAL when you’re nine!

Last but not least, is this cutie.  It’s finally time for Bowen to start kindergarten.  I’m filled with all the emotions about this…having a fall birthday-he’s quite a bit older than my other two when they started school and he’s so ready!  He’s a people person and will make friends immediately, but the tug on my mama heart that reminds me this is one of those tiny steps toward him needing me less and less just makes me sad.  Bowen’s been my right-hand man at home for years while the others were at “big school” and to see him joining them is bittersweet.  He’s gonna have a great day and his teacher is awesome {she was Nixon’s kindergarten teacher too}.  I can’t wait to hear all about it!

We attended “Meet the Teacher” Night, now known as “Supplies and Say Hi” Night at our school.  It’s the night where you unload all your kiddos’ supplies, meet the teachers, check out who else will be in class with your kiddos, and that sort of thing.

Another cool thing our school does for kindergarten students is they have a big park play date the Saturday morning before school.  Each kinder class is given a color to wear so you can identify on the playground which kids will be in the same class.  It’s a great way for parents to meet and kids to introduce themselves to new classmates in a super relaxed setting.

Saturday morning, Bowen and Britt and I headed to the park to meet some new friends.  He had the best time playing with everyone and told me as we walked to the car, “Kindergarten is gonna be great”.

I’m praying they all have GREAT days and now I’m counting down the minutes to pick up so I can hear ALL about them!

XO
