5 Things-Valentine Edition

Happy Monday!  And HAPPY FEBRUARY 1ST!

Why does January ALWAYS feel like the longest month?  So happy we made it to February!  I’ve been doing a little 5 Things post on Mondays that can contain bits of our weekend or random thoughts this mom of four has circling around in her head.  And I’m ALL over the place with those.  In honor of the month of FEBRUARY, I decided today we’re only chatting all things VALENTINE’S DAY!

#1 CLASS PARTIES
I know I shared this last week but I’m sharing it again because it never fails-I know when I sign up to be a Room Rep/Room Mom I’ll be responsible for several parties but when the time comes I’m always frantically searching for party ideas.  A few years ago, I asked you guys for help and to say you delivered is putting it mildly.  I have this entire post full of ideas for a Valentine’s Day school party.

Our school requires all the room representatives for each class within a grade to work together to come up with ideas so that every class in that grade is having an identical party.  We typically come up with four station ideas…a craft, a game, a snack, and depending on the year…another game or craft.  We get volunteers to help out with each station and voila-the party is ready!  This year due to restrictions things are looking very different.  We’ve brainstormed together via group e-mail this year instead of physically meeting up and are for going the usual stations for shortened individual fun at their own desks.  Our parties used to last about 45 minutes and this year they’re only 30 minutes.  If your school is looking for something similar, this is what we’re doing…

*Valentine Bingo-what’s a school party without a game of bingo? 😉
*Magnetic Craft-they have lockers and can put these up in their locker.  They come individually wrapped so no one has to share supplies.  We ordered ours from Oriental Trading.

Still some fun but doing it a little different this year.

#2 CUTE Valentines
It’s not too late to order your custom crayon valentines.  Britt has these to pass out to her class and they’re so stinkin’ cute!  They come with the cute card all prepacked and ready for your child to sign their name.  YES!  YES!  YES!  Here’s to making it easy for us mamas this Valentine’s Day!

#3 A Little HEART Wardrobe
One place I rarely shop is Loft.  I prefer to do most of my shopping online and usually Loft’s overall color scheme is super muted, which isn’t my usual go-to.  But, I have to say Loft is HERE for this Valentine’s Day should you need anything to wear.  And almost everything on the site is 50% off with code, FLASH.  This heart tee, for instance, is under $13 right now.  Throw a cardigan over this and I’m ready for that school party!

Or this pink sweatshirt also comes in red or white and is on sale with code, Flash, for under $30.  I’d recommend sizing up.  I didn’t but wish I had!

#4 Valentine-Inspired Movie List
I found this list of 20 Family Friendly Romantic Movies for Valentine’s Day on Pinterest.  There’s no way my entire family will make it through this list but Ebby Lee and I were inspired to watch some new to us movies this month.  Thought you might have tweens or teens in your house who would enjoy these too.  You can see the entire list from Your Home Based Mom.

#5 Strawberry Brownies
This is one of our family favorite dessert recipes that we make all year long but we HAVE to make it multiple times this month.  I mean…it’s PINK!  It’s super easy and we sometimes serve it with ice cream, a mug of ice cold milk, or completely by itself-either way these strawberry brownies are so good!

If you’re looking for a little kitchen inspiration this month, well look no further.  Shay has us covered!  She has all kinds of goodies you can whip up in your kitchen from snacks to breakfast to Valentine’s Day dinner.

My kids are working from home today so I’m off to make sure everyone stays on task.  Wish me luck! 😉

Have the BEST Monday!
XO
