Workin’ It Wednesday

 Happy Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Shay and I are WORKIN’ IT today by sharing a little look at our weekend.  I should apologize in advance about my lack of picture taking this weekend.  To put it lightly, I stunk at taking pictures pretty much ALL WEEKEND LONG.  🙁  There’s such a fine line between taking pics and enjoying all the moments.  Clearly, I need to work on the balance when I have a post to work on!

If you’re new around these parts, once a month Shay and I share how we WORK at something.  This is our list of topics….
We’d love for you to join us next month.  There’s a link-up at the bottom of the post for you to add your blog to as well.  Hope to see you on the 9th!

Now to our weekend….

Britt had a little procedure on Friday morning to check a few things out (everything came back great) so we were up early for that which is why she’s still in her pajamas.  Then my mom had already planned on coming to visit for the week so we headed to the airport to grab her.  We had a few minutes so we did what any duo would do…ate squeezy pouches (her, not me) and took some selfies.

I’ve shared my sweet friend, Kristen, and her blog before but she got me hooked on the Skinny Green Tea Tango with Mango smoothies at Smoothie King.  Remember when I ordered a Thanksgiving-sized smoothie?

There it is.  🙂

Anyway, the smoothies are absolutely delicious.  Try one ASAP at your local Smoothie King.  At the airport, that squeezy pouch Britt was eating smelled EXACTLY like the smoothies.  I sent that picture to Kristen telling her to try this squeezy pouch.  ha!

(In a normal post I never would have included those silly selfies, BUT I didn’t document enough of my weekend so you’re getting to see that.)

After we grabbed my mom at the airport, we drove back to McKinney to get the big kids and came straight home.  We had a lazy afternoon, ordered pizza for dinner, and went to bed early.  #wildfridaynight

Saturday morning, this rang true.  It was all hands on deck!

One of my high school girlfriends sadly had a funeral to attend in McKinney and I invited her family to stop by for a quick visit.  You guys.  What are the odds?  I graduated with twelve people in my class and one of my friends had a funeral in my town.  The funeral was held less than a mile and a half from my house!  Isn’t that crazy?

Carrie and I were great friends throughout our entire school years.  We shared stories and even talked in code a bit.  She has two middle school daughters who don’t need to hear those!  haha!  We had a great visit.  It was great seeing her and her family is so so pretty!

Then I did a quick run for a big grocery pick-up…oh, how I LOVE grocery pick-up.  Our local grocery store offers it now and it’s simply AMAZING!

On the drive back to my house, the dashboard (not really sure what you call this area of your vehicle) of my car was ALL LIT UP.

I discovered this when I pulled into the garage.  🙁  Upon closer inspection I could see two nails in that tire!  Thankfully, there’s a tire place less than a mile from our house so I drove it up there to get the tire patched.

Remember that hail storm in March?  Well, now our neighborhood is basically all under construction.  It’s no surprise there were nails in my tire.

I was trying to be super discreet, but as I waited for the tire to be repaired the guy next to me was playing his music OUT LOUD!  I’m talking no headphones…just going through his play list playing his favorite jams with his volume turned up.  I was SO CLOSE to saying, “I think you need some head phones”.  But I refrained.

With the guy jamming next to me, I discovered my blog was looking like this.  EEEEKKKKK!!!

Tab had been out of town at his college football conference.  (Those of you new here, my husband is a college football official.)  It’s at this conference every year they have physicals, take a big rules test, meetings, etc.  On Saturday evening they invite families to attend the social so I drove our crew over to hang with everyone for a bit.  During the meeting the guys thanked all the wives for all the weekends we take care of things at home.  Super nice…and then all of us in attendance took a picture afterwards.

We’ve just recently begun letting other people hold Britt.  Like I’ve mentioned before we feel super confident about our attachment at the moment and if at any time we don’t then we’ll immediately stop with other people holding her.  This is Reggie, the referee on Tab’s crew, and she was a big fan of getting her picture taken with Mr. Reggie.  🙂

Another sweet wife, Mrs. Rebecca…she’s the one who sent that cute, cute blanket from the crew.

Remember this one?

After the social, we called it a night and drove back to McKinney.  There’s no way my people could hang during an 8:00 dinner.  ha!

Sunday morning, Meagan and I along with helper, Britt, taught our three-year-old Sunday School class.  It’s a joy to get to serve along side such a great friend.  Love this girl!

After church, I met some friends for coffee.  I’ll share about that soon.  😉

You’re welcome.  Trust me.  I had this picture as big as the others and you’re welcome.  hahaha!  I promise I’m wearing a swimsuit there was just a little too much showing so I placed a heart.  And Britt…well Tab got her ready for the pool so she did swim in just a swim diaper.

I ended the weekend curled up with a blanket watching Big Brother.  🙂  If you’re watching be sure to come back next Tuesday for Tuesday Talk.  I want to hear ALL your BIG BROTHER thoughts!

Thanks for stopping by today!  XO

Britt is just a doll. How did you know when it was o.k to let people hold her? We are heading to China in August to get our little lady and the attachment/when to let people hold her thing is something I always wonder about…

Oh Alicia, I wish I had the magical answer. If you're me…you email everyone you work with asking about this, reach out to adoptive moms, and PRAY! Hahaha!! I was so worried about this so I completely understand. I think there comes a time when you know no matter who you pass her off to-she's gonna prefer you. When you hit that you're golden. We only let our kids and us hold her until about week seven but I think that number is different for everyone. This is gonna sounds crazy but there became a time when I just felt like we'd hit that spot. She was attached. She knew I was her mama. I'll be praying for you and your little lady.

I am so interested in how you picked the name Britt? Were there other names in the running?! I hope you will do a post soon about picking the perfect name for her.

I love that you specified that you didn't eat a squeeze packet. I laughed out loud. My mom's neighbor really eats those as a snack! EW!

I had that same photobucket issue this weekend, but got it all fixed up. I did the same thing you did, realized we had this post to go up and I hadn't taken one picture, so I scrounged for what I could…haha! That guy at the tire shop and your face, priceless! I hate when people are so oblivious to those around them, especially when they are texting or something, and have the sound on.

Fun weekend. I've had this post on my calendar for a while but with us being out of town I just threw all stuff out the window. 🙂 Loved reading these posts though. I'm so glad Britt is attaching and things are going smoothly!

Recently there was a guy right behind me on a plane who did not have headphones. He was watching a movie loudly on his phone. I couldn't believe that no one said anything so I finally asked him if he'd put in ear buds. So I know the feeling!
