Tuesday’s Top Three

This summer I feel like the Slaughters have been on the go!!  We’re finally back at home and STAYING put!  But…I thought I’d share the Slaughters Top Three Road Trip Essentials. These are not crazy items, but with only these three things my kiddos can hang in the car!  For a long time, I should add.  Our trip to Missouri was nine hours.  Other than Bowen initially asking to “Get Awt, Mama” for the first couple hours (ha!), they did great!

 #1 SNACKS!!
I always pack a snack bag with goodies and drinks.  On the way to MO, I put this bag in the seat next to me so I could pass anything easily.

#2 Blankets
Each kiddo gets their own blanket.  When they’re sitting in the car it’s always cozier with a blanket.  🙂  I found some older pictures of the kiddos in the car with their blankets.

Look how LITTLE!!

If they fall asleep, I think a blanket helps them sleep longer too.  🙂

#3 DVDs
My kiddos love watching movies.  Who doesn’t, right??  On trips they take turns choosing a movie and this seriously keeps them SO happy!  How did our parents take us on long road trips without one??

I also pack a small bag of little toys.  When Bowen got fussy, I’d hand him a toy back and that would keep him busy for a while.

Like I said, definitely nothing crazy on the list, but the Slaughter kiddos can HANG in the car for a long time if they have those three items!!  If you have any great road trip essentials, PLEASE leave a comment!  It will help us all out!!  Thank you!!

I agree with all of this! Why is it that a blanket will make them sleep longer? It really does! And yes, how did I take so many road trips without a TV when I was little? Did I just look out the window? Talk to Sean? What did I do????

This reminds me of road trips when I was a kid, minus the movies! Snacks and blankets were essentials!

As my kids get older we brought color wonder so they can color and I didn't have to worry about them writing on anything else! We also have car games laminated that they can play, license plate search, bingo, tic tac toe, etc. we love to travel so always looking for new things!

Bingo cards. You can get road trip cards with sliding windows at Hobby Lobby back in the aisle where they keep flashcards and coin collecting books. My kids love them.
