Tuesday Talk-Favorite Things

Hey Friends!

It’s TUESDAY TALK!  That day of the month when Fancy Ashley and I get together to chit chat about anything and everything.  I’m so glad you’re here.  🙂

I’ve been in full-blown Christmas mode around here with gift guides, a Christmas Cash giveaway, and we decorated our house over the weekend.  I think I’ve said for the last three years we needed a new tree but I kept putting it off.  Bowen fell into the tree on Friday night and at one point branches were LYING on the ground, I realized there’s no going back.  We’re enjoying the Leaning Tower of Christmas for the rest of 2019 and that’ll be the end of a long era.

Today, I need your help.  This Christmas season I’m headed to a Favorite Things Party and while I share lots of FAVORITES here all the time, I’m trying to find a new favorite my friends haven’t seen or heard about already.  That’s where you come in…

HELP!  PLEASE SEND ME YOUR FAVORITE THINGS GIFT IDEAS!

I’ll also throw an Insta Story up today asking for ideas and will share.  If you’re going to a party too, maybe you’ll get a great idea as well.  I think my price point is supposed to be around $15, but I’m open to any and all ideas.  I can pair some things together or splurge a little bit because #itschristmas.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING PARTY GIFT IDEA??

Thank you in advance for your help!  I can’t wait to read all the comments!
XO

The first Favorite Things party I went to I took Bob Goff’s book, Everybody Always. I it’s old enough now that possibly “everyone” has read it, but just last week I ran into someone who mentioned, “I really liked that book that you gave me….”. Later that year I found outdoor summer dishes on crazy sale so they hit the price point – I love to entertain and love to eat outside, hence a “favorite thing”. I was at Costco the other day and saw some fun bowls and was wishing I had a Favorite Things party to go to – always like to buy something that is a bit of a “splurge” (don’t need but want – ha!). Anyway, I hope you put together a list….always great to find new ideas for hostess gifts, office gifts, etc.

I always like to put together my favorite chocolate or treats with a mug and coffee or hot chocolate mix, and my favorite book, something warm and cozy for the season.

I love to take a fun pen/notepad set to a favorite things party. If you know who will be getting your gift, a monogrammed necklace/bracelet/earrings would be fabulous (I use Cora's Den on etsy), or cozy socks and a Lush sleepy lotion would be lovely. I just shared my favorite gifts to give and what I've taken to all my favorite things parties here:

We do a gift exchange party with my women's group at church every year. We used to do have themes like everyone bring an ornament or socks or something like that. More recently we've just picked a color, so that everyone brings something…red, silver, purple, etc. That has been really fun to see what people find within the color scheme.

Go to Nordstrom and buy a couple jars of their tomato basil soup, wrap in cute dish towels! This is always a hit when I go to a gift swap type party!

This is so dumb (haha) but the Ikea Utensils (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/grunka-4-piece-kitchen-utensil-set-stainless-steel-30083334/) are my FAVORITE everrrr. I've had big name brand kitchen tools, but these take the cake. At $8 for the whole set, it's a total steal :). Hope this helps!

The Favorite Things sounds like a great party! I'm not very original when it comes to gifts, but what about a diffuser with a set of essensial oils, maybe a little basket with a favorite bath oil or bath salt, body lotion and some cozy slipper socks?

    Thanks for hosting the linkup!

Oh, I love a favorite things party even though I've never been to one, LOL. Some of my favorite things are Dr. Bronner's Organic Lavendar Hand Sanitizer, packing cubes, Lamicall phone/tablet holder (Amazon), pretty dish towels and food (bagged, jarred, maple syrup, anything)!

A "Favorites" themed party I've heard about is this: Everyone buys their favorite board game, childhood toy, childhood book, etc. and does the "exchange" at the party for fun, but all gifts then go to a donation/charity/toy drive. You share something about your childhood with your friends and also share with others who might need a little extra for Christmas.

    Depends on the price range…

Have you heard of GlassyBaby's? They are these GORGEOUS hand blown candle holder things. They cast off the prettiest light. They're expensive ($50 each) and I've slowly been building my collection. Now I have a nice assortment of colors that go with all of my holiday decor for different season. My favorite is my mercury glass one because it goes with my mercury glass pumpkins for fall, looks cute with my red and green Christmas decor, and is adorable with my red and blue ones during summer time. Check out their website. They're local to Seattle but they have shops in a few places and they ship. It's my go-to gift.

I also love my lash serum from Rodan & Fields. And my hydroflask tumbler is the best tumbler I've ever had. (I'm realizing I might have expensive taste!)

Amazon sells a sleek, chic looking electronic candle lighter by REIDEA (if candle lighters can be chic) for $18. Depending on your price limit, you could add your favorite candle.

Oh no!.. but I guess that's one way to get a new tree. We had to ditch our tree last year when we noticed a burning plastic smell and noticed that a few of the lights were overheating and melting the plastic around the base. I was so thankful that it was on Christmas morning and that we never leave our tree on when we're not home.

I realize they aren't cute or fun but the 2 best favorite things gifts I ever got were a pair of Fiskars 8" shop snip shears (easily conquers the worst of the zip tie, hard plastic toy packaging) and a set of smallish battery operated Coleman lanterns for power outages. I didn't know either existed, but use both all the time.
