In honor of all the snow/sleet the majority of our country has had lately, I want to share our Top Three essentials for a snow day! I’m a HUGE fan of a one-time only snow day. haha! You know not a week at home where you can’t really leave? But just a one day at home-kind of snow day. Those are my favorite. It’s nice to be forced to slow down and spend time with your family.
Some of my very favorite memories as a kid were during snow days! Our family was forced to not go in so many different directions, but we had to slow down and hang out together.
#1 Warm Drink (I’m using “warm” instead of “hot” because my coffee is warm.)
For the adults, it’s coffee and the kiddos enjoy hot chocolate. There’s just something special about sipping warm drinks on a cold day.
#2 Big Breakfast (I should have taken a picture of our breakfast yesterday. Trust me place mats weren’t involved. It was WAY more chaotic than this picture but with three littles what isn’t?)
If school is cancelled and there’s no place to be, we always have a big breakfast. Yesterday Tab made whole wheat pancakes, eggs, and bacon. It was delish!!
#3 A Good Movie
Yesterday Rio was our kiddos’ pick. A good snow day always involves a movie, right?
#4 A Game
We played a lot of rounds of Uno yesterday. I hate to say that the boys came out on top and were totally braggers about it. Ebby Lee and I should have gotten awards for being the best losers! But…a snow day to me means games and lots of them!

When my kids were little they always enjoyed building a fort out of quilts and blankets, filling it with pillows and eating popcorn in it. They would play in it all day long.
Snow days need big warm blankets, popcorn and a good movies!! 🙂

We played a lot of games yesterday too! I'm going to have to try Uno with my kids. They haven't played but I bet they would like it!
Outside play clothes. 🙂 Of course its not as easy or economical in the warmer states, but thankfully we still have enough left over from our last cold tour. Because nothing wears them out more than some playtime in the cold!
For our snow day and I am afraid snow day #2 crafts we a bid deal. Paint, glue, markers, scissors and construction paper were all over the kitchen table at one point. I had no idea boys could love to be crafty, but I have a whole set of ninja turtles made out of paper now to prove me wrong.
Lots of blankets and snuggles!
Snow day essential. Go outside and build a snowman! And go sledding- All day long.

We had lots of ice days here last week! Movies and hot chocolate are a must for survival during those days! Hope your power comes back on soon!!!!
I am a teacher and we've had LOTS of snow days the past two weeks! I love making seasonal crafts and cuddling up to read a good book on snow days!
Board games are a big hit at our house, of course Ive never experienced a snow day living in California before lol

We are on 6th snow day in a row…. Actually 7 if you count last Monday but school was closed because of Presidents Day but we were "iced" in here in Nashville. We are running out of things to do and all going a bit stir crazy. 🙂
I live in California so snow days are a foreign concept. We get heavy rain sometimes but unless it's super catastrophic, like trees falling and roads being blocked off everybody goes about their business. I'm so jealous! I want a snow day!
We played games, painted outside on the ice (this was a BIG hit with the kids), watched Rio, baked a cake. We had a fun day!
