Wahoo for Show and Tell Tuesday! As always, I’m linking up with my girl, Andrea, and showing and telling a bit today. We’re sharing, “Day in the Life” posts. These are always some of my favorite to read. I documented yesterday-a random Monday-complete with laundry and dentist appointments. #becausemomlife
I took a picture of the clock to show what time I stumbled out of bed and THEN realized my clock never sprung forward. 🙂
I always start my morning with some coffee and some Bible time. On certain mornings (if I have plenty of time), I like to read a bit of a Christian book. This one “Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World” is GOOD!!
I got myself ready for the gym and then woke up these cuties. Nixon wasn’t feeling it just yet. I made sure snacks, lunch, and water bottles were ready for the day. Bowen was awake but he REALLY wasn’t feeling it.
Three crazy kids ready for the day! Half of us were dropped off at school and the other half headed to the gym.
I realized mid-class that I’d forgotten to snap a picture at the gym so I took one in the middle of some hamstring work.
I usually shower at the gym before setting out for the day, but yesterday all three kiddos had dentist appointments mid-morning so there just wasn’t time to shower. Bowen and I loaded up and swung by the school to pick up the big kids.
Teeth cleaning time! I was planning on a picture of kiddos in a dentist chair but my kids are all so big they go back alone. I talked to the dentist afterward but never saw them in a chair! WAAH!!
Then it was back home for the really glamorous stuff like cleaning out the dishwasher and…
LAUNDRY!
I set down afterwards to get some work done on my blog, answer e-mails, and chat with some travel clients. Before I knew it, it was time to head to school for pick-up.
We set down at the table as soon as we walked in from school to get the homework finished as quickly as possible. Then it was chatting about their day time, play time, and clean up a HUGE mess of water Bowen somehow managed to make time. There was water everywhere upstairs. #threeyearoldproblems
A little later Mrs. Shay arrived to drop off Smith and Ashby to play while she took the big girls to dance.
When Bowen was two he got a train table for Christmas. He played on the table with toys but wasn’t mature enough to leave the train track together. He wrecked it any chance he got. Fast forward eighteen months and that’s still what happens. Partly because Bowen plays with all kinds of cars/trucks/animals/tractors on that table and partly because no Slaughter (since he demolished every track we built) has put another one together for him. I thought the time was right for us to give him another chance. I pulled out a farm train set Bowen got for Christmas and possibly bribed Smith and Nixon to put it together just like the picture on the box. When those two have a job they enjoy, they can get stuff done! They found animals in the playroom to add to the scenery and did a FABULOUS job! Definitely worth the fifty cents I promised them. ha!
While the boys worked on that, Marla stopped by to deliver some cookies she had made earlier that day. HOLY DELICIOUS!! I’m a sucker for a shortbread/sugar type cookie and these did NOT disappoint.
About that time, Tab texted that his golf tournament he was playing in that day was running late and he’d be home at 7:00. Just what any mom wants to hear on a MONDAY, right? 🙂 I decided to scrap the dinner I was gonna make since it was just me and the kids. Instead of salmon burgers (we’re BIG salmon fans at our house), we had leftover salmon (from the night before-see what I mean?), ravioli, ham, and fruit. Super random, but took only about five minutes to throw together.
While working on that, I asked Nixon to cut (I prefer cutting with scissors rather than poking because of the pop) and pop the balloons they’d gotten earlier at the dentist. He misunderstood what I was asking and this happened…
I’m hoping it doesn’t last long. #oops
We had dinner, cleaned up dinner, and headed upstairs to straighten up the playroom before baths. Then guess who arrived?? TAB!!
Super typical at our house…Ebby Lee is dancing, the boys are wrestling, and the Rangers are playing in the background. Real life at it’s finest. I snuck off to take a long quiet bath while Tab handled bath time. We tucked those cuties into bed. I finished this blog post, and we watched a bit of a Dateline.
Hope you enjoyed a Day in My Life!! Have a GREAT day!!
These are definitely my favorite kind of posts! If I did one it would show me fluffing clothes in the dryer AT LEAST 3 times. And possibly re-washing a load.
Hahaha!! My wash might have had to be re-washed. Odds are, it could have happened. 🙂
Love this! It's typical at our house to have any type of sporting event on the TV year-round. I never get a break from listening to sports in the background because my husband is so obsessed 🙂

Life with boys, right? 🙂
The gym picture cracked me up! I'm so glad that I got to be a part of your random Monday :). Love our little routines friend!
I remembered halfway through! 🙂
Have a question. Do you have a post of best activities or places to visit for children in Dallas?
Thanks.
Love these posts!! Love the sleepy faces in the morning!!
Haha, loving that you still have the stickers on your washer and computer! 🙂 Love these posts.
I love these kinds of posts! I notice that your wash machine is similar to mine… can you wash coats and shoes in yours? Mine has the little sticker that says you can't. I tried to anyway, but they don't come out clean. They look just like they did when I put them in. It cleans dirty clothes just fine, just not shoes or coats. It's crazy! Just seeing if yours is the same way, or if you've figured out a way around it?! Thanks! 🙂
Such a fun peek into your daily routine!
That "Raising Grateful Kids" book looks really good!
And what is it with little boys and making messes with water?! 🙂 🙂

Fun day!! 🙂 I love reading these posts!! So fun!! Xo
My favorite posts!! I didn't realize you are doing travel now too. Are you helping Shay or starting your own business? Fun!!
I don't know how you moms do all you do! I need to build up my stamina for when I have kids!
xo, Kristina
I totally forgot to do this. I was just thinking of doing a day in the life but my head is all over the place these days 🙂 Same story over here with the train table. I've put together that thing several times and it gets demolished within a day 🙁 Our house looks just like that last picture every night. Baseball season means there is a game on every night with boys wrestling. Excited about tomorrow night 🙂
Erika-what do you typically eat for breakfast and lunch? Also do you eat the same thing as your hubby and kids for dinner? I struggle I'm mornings to find time to eat healthy or at all besides coffee!
You make me laugh girl…I just love that you can be organized but also roll with the flow!
I need to do a day in the life post!! They are so fun to read!! And same story here last night with Baker and water everywhere. Boys!!!! Oh and the train too! Why can't they leave it alone!!
