If you’ve been reading here a while, then you know our family of five moved a couple neighborhoods over this summer and we’ve been slowly doing what we can to update our new home. We love love love it! But it was built in 1998 so the ivy wallpaper was screaming at me!
We’ve done several things so far, but we FINALLY have a complete room finished. I thought it’d be fun to share “One Room at a Time” as soon as an entire room is complete.
We started in the dining room because it’s one of the first rooms you see when you enter the house. This was it in all it’s ivy glory right before we bought it….
I loved the character of the trim work, the hardwood floors, and the natural light that comes through the French doors. For this room, I really wanted it to be simply elegant. We are not fancy people at all, but because it’s a dining room I wanted the room to be a touch elegant. I also wanted to incorporate a little more “modern” into this room. That usually isn’t my jam, but in a simply elegant dining room I thought it fit the bill. Okay, here’s the big reveal.
Drum roll please….
What do you think?? The chandelier made some sparkly designs on the pictures so just ignore those. 🙂 We kept the table and buffet from our old house, but we got new chairs. We replaced the light fixture, took down the wallpaper, and painted. We spruced it up with some new decor.
Rug: Lowe’s (was in our old house)
End Chairs: Weir’s Furniture
Patterned Chairs: Home Goods
Candlesticks: Z Gallerie
Vase and Flowers: Z Gallerie
Chandelier: Z Gallerie
Canvases: Easy Canvas Prints (Photo Cred-Narci)
Those canvases could not depict their personalities more if we tried! I LOVE the black/white with the grey/blue walls.
Lamp: I.O. Metro
White Sphere: Home Goods
Tall Candlestick: Z Gallerie
Small Lamp: Home Goods
White Vase: Z Gallerie
Deer Head: Z Gallerie
My mother-in-law got this deer head several years ago and I just couldn’t understand why. But her deer has grown on me so much that I headed to the store in search of one just like hers. 🙂
The next project on our list is replacing the doors. The front door has got to go! I called yesterday about changing out those French doors that lead to NOWHERE into a big pretty window as well. I’m working on it, but if that happens then we’ll add some plantation shutters and call it a day.
We still have MANY MANY things on our “To-Do House List”, but let me tell you-it feels GREAT to get one big room checked off the list. Well-except that replacing the door with a window thing. I still have to work on that. 🙂
Hope you guys enjoyed the Dining Room tour!! I can’t wait to get another room complete and share it with you!
Happy Thursday, Friends! XOXO
