If you’ve been reading here a while, then you know our family of five moved a couple neighborhoods over this summer and we’ve been slowly doing what we can to update our new home. We love love love it! But it was built in 1998 so the ivy wallpaper was screaming at me!
We’ve done several things so far, but we FINALLY have a complete room finished. I thought it’d be fun to share “One Room at a Time” as soon as an entire room is complete.
We started in the dining room because it’s one of the first rooms you see when you enter the house. This was it in all it’s ivy glory right before we bought it….
I loved the character of the trim work, the hardwood floors, and the natural light that comes through the French doors. For this room, I really wanted it to be simply elegant. We are not fancy people at all, but because it’s a dining room I wanted the room to be a touch elegant. I also wanted to incorporate a little more “modern” into this room. That usually isn’t my jam, but in a simply elegant dining room I thought it fit the bill. Okay, here’s the big reveal.
Drum roll please….
What do you think?? The chandelier made some sparkly designs on the pictures so just ignore those. 🙂 We kept the table and buffet from our old house, but we got new chairs. We replaced the light fixture, took down the wallpaper, and painted. We spruced it up with some new decor.
Rug: Lowe’s (was in our old house)
End Chairs: Weir’s Furniture
Patterned Chairs: Home Goods
Candlesticks: Z Gallerie
Vase and Flowers: Z Gallerie
Chandelier: Z Gallerie
Canvases: Easy Canvas Prints (Photo Cred-Narci)
Those canvases could not depict their personalities more if we tried! I LOVE the black/white with the grey/blue walls.
Lamp: I.O. Metro
White Sphere: Home Goods
Tall Candlestick: Z Gallerie
Small Lamp: Home Goods
White Vase: Z Gallerie
Deer Head: Z Gallerie
My mother-in-law got this deer head several years ago and I just couldn’t understand why. But her deer has grown on me so much that I headed to the store in search of one just like hers. 🙂
The next project on our list is replacing the doors. The front door has got to go! I called yesterday about changing out those French doors that lead to NOWHERE into a big pretty window as well. I’m working on it, but if that happens then we’ll add some plantation shutters and call it a day.
We still have MANY MANY things on our “To-Do House List”, but let me tell you-it feels GREAT to get one big room checked off the list. Well-except that replacing the door with a window thing. I still have to work on that. 🙂
Hope you guys enjoyed the Dining Room tour!! I can’t wait to get another room complete and share it with you!
Happy Thursday, Friends! XOXO

LOVEEEEE!! We just bought a house in July and are slowly trying to decide what upgrades we want to do. Starting with a complete gut of the first floor. HA. Can't wait to see what else ya'll are doing with your home.
It looks great!! I love the mirror in your entryway, too!
OMG!! Would you please come decorate my house!? LOVE your dining room…. Would you mind sharing the paint color and what size are your canvas's prints? :))
It looks simply amazing!…. Very modern and elegant!
Looks fantastic! I have such a hard time making decisions on the details that bring a room together and admire anyone who does it well. Especially love the light fixture!
The room looks great! I love the paint color with the white trim.
This is right up my alley! SOOOO pretty!
Beautiful! It doesn't even look like the same room!
Beautifully done! I've always wanted a dining room with that tall wood board trim. I cannot for the life of me think of what that's called! Anyone?! 🙂
Beautiful! It doesn't even look like the same room!! I'm in the middle of redoing my dining room and I am stuck!! I'm searching for inspiration!
This is gorgeous and those chairs are simply amazing! I know it feels fantastic to have one room done and out of the way. We moved in our house six years ago and we just finished up decorating the last room this past year. As a matter of fact, I'm doing a Home Tour Tuesday series on my blog as we speak! Love it all and I can't wait to see the rest!

Love love love the colour of your walls! Cannot find any paint colour I like at the moment and this one is screaming at me! And that light fixture yes please. Love what you have done with the space.
Gorgeous!! Did you refinish your floors?!
Yes! I forgot to add that! We added hardwoods and refinished the old ones as soon as we moved in. It's just a bit darker.
Looks amazing!!! Love the wall color and all the white pops!! Plus that chandelier is fabulous!!!
What a transformation! !! I just love this!!! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful! I'm not a (real) deer head kinda girl but I love the white deer head! I don't have anyplace in my house for one though. I'm glad you mentioned the french doors — they confused me! LOL! A big window would look great there! Can't wait to see the rest of your house when it's finished. I'm sure it'll be gorgeous!
It looks fantastic! You guys did a great job!
Perhaps, if you don't want to make the investment in changing out the doors right now, remove the blinds and treat the French doors like large windows. Perhaps you could hang white cotton voile sheers (to let the light flow in) floor to ceiling and wall to wall on the door wall. If you aren't using the doors you don't have to worry about opening the sheets for access.
Beautiful!
The room looks beautiful! Love it!
SO SO pretty….but the paint color takes the cake!! I love how it pulls the room together. Great job!!!
Yay! Love…and SOOOOO swooning over that chandelier!!!! xx
So fun! I seriously love that light and your pix. If I ever have one room completely finished I will be dancing a jig.
I love your taste and style! That wall color is GORGEOUS! Great work! You can come do my house anytime! 🙂 And that deer head just works! I love it! 🙂
It turned out amazing!! I can not believe it's the same room. Simply beautiful, you must be so happy!
