Nixon is 6 and New York-Day 3

I have a lot going on over here today.  ðŸ™‚  A little birthday post and then our Day 3 recap is at the bottom.

First of all, I must tell you this sweet little baby boy is now 6 YEARS OLD!

How in the world did that happpen?

Nixon Talbot turns 6 today.  Nixon is all-boy.  He wants to play outside from the second he gets home from school until it’s time to take a bath.

He loves all sports…baseball, basketball, football, golf, hockey…just to name a few.

Nixon is our comedian.  He keeps us all laughing with the things he says and the crazy things he does.

He can be SO sweet to his brother and sister.  I’m talking like little brother forgets that he ordered pizza and is crying because he wants chicken nuggets and Nixon offers to switch.  That kind of sweet.

He’s been asking for a dog since he was two years old.  He’s been a bit obsessed and when he was two, seven seemed like the perfect age.  I started telling him when he was seven we’d get a dog.  EEK!!  He just turned six!  Apparently, I only have one year left of dog-free living.  ðŸ™‚

This little guy stole my heart years ago and has been holding onto it every since.

He wants to be a baseball player when he grows up.

This kid keeps our entire family laughing.  We’re so thankful he’s ours.  We love you big, Nixon-Man!

 Happy Happy Birthday!!  XOXO

Nixon is always crazy easy on birthdays.  Ebby Lee always wants a big party with lots of friends.  Nixon usually chooses something with just a couple friends.  So this evening we’ll be partying Nixon-style at the bowling alley complete with lots of french fries, bowling, and cupcakes for dessert!

New York City Day 3:

On Wednesday Shay and I slept in, ordered room service, and then set off to hit up the rest of Manhattan.  First stop, the Flat Iron District.

We were just casually walking through the city and spotted this bus.  We kind of had to stop, right?

We walked through the Chelsea Food Market.  Super cool.  I could have eaten for days in that building.

We stopped at a little bakery for a quick lunch.  The food was great, but I don’t even remember the name.  While we were there some other tourists mentioned there was filming a couple blocks over for The Blacklist.  We had to check it out!  On our way over we realized the bakery…Magnolia Bakery was where we were headed next for a little dessert and it was right in the middle of the action.

I’ve only seen one episode of the show, but this guy was the police officer doing the scene.  He was running to chase a guy who’d just gotten in a car.  They did this little bit about four times while Shay and I had a sweet treat.

We just watched through the window while we ate our dessert.  When the police officer actor looked at us, we waved.  haha!  It’s crazy to see how many people, extras, cameras, and just things it takes to get even the smallest of scenes!

Next stop was the building they use to show the outside of the Friends’ apartment!

We took a quick selfie outside of Bethenny Frankel’s building.

Then we made a quick stop in Zarin Fabrics in China Town just to check out Jill’s business.  (Another RHONY alum)

On Tuesday, I wore my Sperry “Duck” boots to keep warm and dry, but around mile seven of that day my feet were hurting!  So I sported these New Balance shoes on Wednesday and my feet felt great up until mile twelve.  #wedidsomewalking

We decided this night we could skip the dresses, bare legs, and heels.  And…Shay’s toes were gone and my hips were still recovering.  We headed out for night #2.  We had dinner at Carmine’s and YUM!!  Carmine’s is a family-style Italian with the cutest decor.  We had salad, cheese filled manicotti, and the best bread pudding!

Then it was time for Jersey Boys…this show was good too!  This one was rated R with the language but it was a great show portraying Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons.  I had no clue I knew so much of their music.  I recognized almost every song.  This show was less “flashy”, but the storyline was fabulous and those guys could SING!  If you’re traveling adults-only, I’d definitely recommend this one as well.

We walked back to our hotel and paused in the middle of Times Square for a last NYC picture.  ðŸ™‚

Shay, THANK YOU, for letting me tag along on your trip!  I had the BEST time getting to see the city with you and am so crazy proud of you!  Love you, friend!! XOXO

Don’t forget…tomorrow is this!

You should join us!

Have a great Tuesday, girls!
