I Think We Can…

I think we can all agree most of us are feeling this way-both teachers and parents alike….

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

When the warm weather hits and May arrives, I find myself counting down the days until SUMMER!  But we still have two and a half weeks left, so my goal is to finish strong.  Ooh-that struggle is REAL!  These are three things you guys probably already do as teachers or moms to prepare for the week but I thought I’d share as a reminder to us all.

I THINK WE CAN…I THINK WE CAN…I THINK WE CAN…

Tip #1-Clothes laid out for the week.  Yes, my kids lay out what they’ll be wearing each and every day to make mornings a little easier.

Tip #2-Locate all the extra things you need.  Homework?  Special supplies for a school project?  Extra clothes needed during the week…baseball uniform?  Volleyball practice clothes?  Gymnastics leotard?  Anything they’ll need to have washed to wear during the week gets washed or laid out to make it extra easy.  I can go from zero to sixty in roughly two seconds when a kid comes at me with, “MOM!  I can’t find my…{fill in the blank}” when we should be leaving in two minutes.  Nothing sets me off quicker than that statement!  If we have all those things located and ready for the week, then it helps keep my blood pressure down.  🙂

Tip #3-Meal Plan-remember the meme where the end of the year mom is packing a carrot and yogurt for her child’s lunch?  That’s how I’m feeling.  Nothing fancy is happening in my kitchen but the people must eat so I plan meals out and order my groceries.  That whole 5:00 discussion on what’s for dinner goes SO MUCH BETTER when I’m prepared.  And let’s be real-when I sit down to meal plan it usually takes about ten to fifteen minutes to plan out what we’re eating AND order the groceries.  That’s it!

You might do this on Friday for the following week or maybe Sundays are the perfect day for you to get prepared?  Do what works for you!  Just three things we’ve been doing around our house that really are making the end of the year chaos more manageable.  Not earth shattering things but often times I need a reminder or a fourth quarter pep talk.  Think of this as your fourth quarter pep talk…it’s been a tough year, friends, but we’ve got this!

I THINK WE CAN…I THINK WE CAN…I THINK WE CAN…

XO

good luck making it to the end of the school term! We are just in the middle of school year here – school starts in January in Australia – but I do already so some of these tips – the kids lay their clothes out the night before and we meal plan and shop online 🙂

Hope that your week is going well 🙂

Our last day of school is June 28th, our whole province is currently doing online learning, and there's no guarantee we'll go back in person before the end of the year. I would give anything for my kids to be in person right now so I'm super envious of your current school situation. Just another perspective from a parent looking at eight more weeks of online school before summer…

As a teacher who just went back to in-person teaching I am counting the days. It has been crazy, as a middle school SPED SDC (Special Day Class) teacher it has been interesting teaching both in-person and on-line at the same time and because only 5% of my school's population decided to return, they moved my middle school to a high school so I am in someone else's room. Crazy. June 2nd can not come fast enough.
