Home Tour-Bowen’s Room

Okay, this post must officially start more of my home tour!  Which means, I have to keep getting things finished, so I’m not embarrassed to show you the rest of our house!!  We moved into this house about six months ago and we’ve done a LOT of work.  This is the first room that is “done”.

First I must show you the BEFORE picture.  Before we moved in, this room was an office.  It will probably become an office when Bowen wants to share with Nixon (if they want to), but for now it’s the perfect nursery for our B.

Marla (Let me stop a minute…I’m SO thankful she lives close and LOVES to decorate.  She has helped me a TON already) helped me find some great inspiration pictures.  We found these from At Home in Arkansas magazine.  I LOVED the colors.  I LOVED the stripes on the ceiling.  I LOVED that light up “J”.  Here are the fabulous inspiration pics…

 Loved it all!!

This vintage movie poster looks great in the room, but I didn’t want to go with that theme for B’s room.

 Welcome to Bowen’s new room…

It has french doors because it was an “office” but because it has a closet it you can call it a “bedroom”.  Knowing that the end goal is probably having the boys share a room upstairs, I wanted this room to be cute and all about Bowen BUT I didn’t want to spend a ton of money.  (LONGEST sentence ever…sorry!)

We got lucky and the walls were already painted grey.  We added one big bold yellow striped on the wall.  Tab was NOT excited about painting the ceiling tiny yellow and white stripes.  This ceiling has different pitches.  So..we compromised!

I didn’t want to buy a new big piece of black furniture so we tried to use the pieces we had.  We weren’t using this big black shelf or the dresser from Ebby Lee’s old room.  We gave the dresser a bit of a makeover with new knobs and pulls.  Now it looks a little more masculine. 🙂

The “B” letter:  I found in Canton, TX (flea market)  This blog post was my back-up.  I wasn’t pumped about D-I-Ying it, but she made it look pretty easy!!
Yellow Lantern:  HomeGoods…HomeGoods is definitely hit or miss.  This is a cute red option from Pottery Barn.
Red picture frame:  Hobby Lobby (it was in Nixon’s room in the old house)  I printed off a super cheap black and white picture from Sam’s.  Bowen was SO excited when he saw the picture!  So sweet!
Black Shelf:  Found in Canton, TX years ago

On the top of the dresser, we again tried to use stuff we already had.

Apothecary Jar filled with baseballs:  We got the baseballs at a “consignment sports store”…don’t remember the name.  We’d seen the baseball thing on Pinterest.  Here is a link for a similar jar.
Baseball Subway Art:  HomeGoods…searched and searched for something similar.  This isn’t subway art, but it’s a super cute vintage baseball mural.
Picture Frame:  We had it in our old house.
Lamp:  Canton find.
Red Rocking Chair:  This was Tab’s dad’s rocking chair.  We spray painted it to match the room.
Yellow Ball Thing on the Floor:  HomeGoods (super random, but I love the pop of yellow it adds).

Bowen is glad his bedroom is finally complete!  ha!

Red Bench:  HomeGoods
Pillows:  HomeGoods…these polka dot pillow covers are cute!
Jack-in-the-Box:  My mom gave Bowen this for his birthday.  She didn’t do the color thing on purpose, but it matches perfectly!!

 Better lighting

 Wall with the crib

Crib:  Hand-me-down from Ebby Lee
Yellow Chevron Sheets:  Target here.  With the move and all that, I just opted for a cute sheet.  We don’t need crib bedding now, right?  He’s over one!
Picture Frame:  Hobby Lobby (I know it’s up a little too high, but I didn’t want Bowen to be able to touch it and knock it off.)
Geometric Rug:  Target, but I couldn’t find any small geometric rugs.  Found this one at Pottery Barn.

Maybe one day there will be a post all about Bowen’s organized closet.  Not just yet.  🙂

Super cute and cheap way to decorate a wall!

Black Shelves:  In the old house, they were in E’s room.
Books:  We already had.
B:  Hobby Lobby

Tab’s mom got this for Bowen when he was born.  Matches so well!

I also got that red/white stripe bucket.  It holds a variety of toys, books, diapers, and wipes.

Storage Bucket:  Similar here.

Hope you enjoyed the little tour!!!  It feels SO good to have one room officially checked off my list!!

I love a good home tour – I don't know if it is because I love design or I am just nosey. 🙂

What a perfect room for a little boy. I love the rugby stripe on the wall – I have done one before and it is not as easy as it looks. Yours is fabulous.

And the light up letter – what a great idea. It looks like you have a gorgeous home and I look forward to seeing more of it!
