Friday’s Favorites

Momfessionals

It’s Friday!!  I’m SO thankful the weekend is finally HERE!!  This week started off with a holiday on Monday for Ebby Lee and I seriously think it messed us up!  We were in a groove and we ALL were counting down the days until FRIDAY!!

I’m joining my girls, Andrea and Narci, for our Friday Favorites!  You can join us.  Grab the button and link up!

#1 Community Helper Day
Yesterday I got to go attend a little event in Ebby Lee’s room about community helpers.  I was a teacher before becoming a stay-at-home mom and I absolutely LOVED this idea!!  The kiddos were all assigned a group.  Ebby Lee was in the veterinarian group.  They worked on making their space look like an actual vet clinic.  And..they brought items from home to enhance their space!  Other groups were firefighters, police officers, farmers, etc.  Then the parents walked around and asked the kiddos some questions…like “What tools do you use?” and “What do you do for the community?”.  The teacher gave us what questions to ask.  The kids were SO excited about it!  I just thought it was a GREAT way to teach community helpers!!

#2 Texas Football
3/5 of my crew went to the local high school football game last night.  It looks like the big kiddos were loving it!!  Narci sent me this picture.  Ten minutes before we were leaving Bowen threw up!!  So…Bowen and I decided to stay home and rest.  Narci, thank you for the pic!!

On a side note…Bowen is getting big!  I don’t know how or why it’s happening, but it is!!  haha!!  After I cleaned him up (it’s 6:20), he said, “Mama, I’na go night-night”.  (Also known as, “Mama, I want to go night-night”.)  ðŸ™‚  I laid him down at 6:30, he closed his eyes, and went right to sleep.

The best part about him growing up…he can sing you the SWEETEST version of Jesus, Loves Me.  If I knew how to post a video on the blog, I’d totally share it with you, but I don’t know how to do that!!  Lori…I need you!  ðŸ™‚

#3 Nixon the Scientist
Yesterday morning I got to stay in Nixon’s class for a science experiment.  We turned the lights off and made lava lamps!!  That was a BIG hit with four-year-olds!!  haha!  I’m trying to enjoy these days…the days where he’s so excited I’m hanging in his class and he’s hugging me when I leave.  I know they’ll be gone before I know it!

#4 Pickin’ Pumpkins
We made it to a pumpkin patch, but it was WAY too hot to be lugging pumpkins all the way to my car.  I had to improvise.  There’s a cute stand in our town selling all different kinds of pumpkins, so I took the kiddos after school.  They all chose a pumpkin to put outside.  Let me tell you…I have a RANDOM assortment outside my front door.  haha!

#5 52 Things Kids Need From a Mom
I started reading this book on Wednesday in the carpool line.  I’ve had it sitting on my nightstand for months!!  I finally picked it up this week and it is JUST what I needed to hear!  Love how God works that out!  Don’t you??  I’m only on the 4th things kids need, but so far…it’s a GREAT read!  Some of the things are things we all do and others are things I’ve never thought of.  Like for instance, I always try to get my quiet time/bible reading/praying done in the morning before my kids wake up.  I don’t want to be distracted, but in this book she says that it’s so important for our kiddos to see us in the Word and in prayer.  She goes on to list many reasons, but that gives you a little idea about some of the things in the book. 🙂  Totally recommend this one!!

#6 Owning It
Thank you all so much for the kind words about the “Owning It” posts!!  I’m so glad you guys love them as much as I do!  Thanks to Shay and Kelly for being my first two guinea pigs!!  Looking forward to many more installments where we claim our crazy.  ðŸ™‚

Looks like a fabulous week with your kids! I remember as a kid going to the pumpkin patch with my mom and her letting each of us pick out our own pumpkin. Such fun memories!

I forgot to link to mine!! I did a post back in July and everyone seemed to like it so that's what gave me the idea! I'll add that link! Mine didn't have the cute title or graphic. Ha!

Fun post friend!!! We haven't even bought 1 pumpkin yet. We'll get on that this weekend! And the thought of Bowen speaking in sentences makes me want to bawl my head off.

I think we went to that same pumpkin patch on Tuesday. The one on the way to school. B loved it. I have a friend that does that too…does her quite time WITH her kids…they read (or look at pics) of their kid Bible while she reads hers. I totally plan on doing that. It teaches them a great habit. I'll have to check out that book.
