Friday Favorites

First of all today, we remember.  I blogged last week about where I was/what I was doing on September 11th, 2001.  You can see it here.

Happy Friday!! Holla!  This week the Slaughters have been hit by allergies and we’re all struggling a little bit.  Thankful the weekend has finally arrived!

Today I’m sharing some favorites with some of my favorites, Narci and Andrea.

Here are my random favorites….

Did you guys hear about this story?  I heard it on the radio on the way to the gym and was crying by the time I arrived.  This officer, Travis Murphy, was killed in the line of duty five years ago. This year on his children’s first day of school (ages 7 and 5) his fellow Phoenix police officers and firefighters lined the entrance to the school to honor him and his children.  His wife says in the Youtube video that his colleagues had vowed to take care of them and five years later they still are!  I mean…waterworks!!!

Bowen started two-year-old preschool on Tuesday.   At drop off on Tuesday, he didn’t cry but he looked so sad.  When I picked him up, he informed me that he was sad because I gave his backpack and nap mat to his teachers.  HE wanted to put it in his cubby all by himself.  So yesterday there wasn’t an ounce of sadness on his sweet little face.

He MIGHT be in class with his favorite.  🙂

I saw this quote on Pinterest and loved it!!  I get e-mails and comments frequently about how blessed I am to have such great girlfriends.  And I completely agree!  It’s so true!  You HAVE to be REAL with friends in order to have a friendship.

Smith and Ashby played at our house for a bit yesterday while Shay took the girls to dance.  They decided they wanted to play that Bean Boozled jelly bean game I shared with you guys a couple weeks ago.  Let me just tell you it’s WAY more fun to observe this game rather than participate.  My favorite statement when Nixon’s spin landed on “Juicy Pear or Booger”…he said, “Oh no!  Juicy Pear or Booger, well I like both of those.”.  SO GROSS!!!  But SO FUNNY!

This definitely isn’t the latest news BY FAR!  My kiddos’ very first babysitter (that wasn’t family and whom we all love dearly) went to McKinney High School.  While she was there they made a Lip Dub to “We Built This City”.  She showed my kiddos way back in 2012 and they STILL request it!!  If you haven’t seen it, here it is.

EEK!!! This week all my Big Brother dreams are coming true!!!  What about you?  I really want Steve and Johnny Mac in the final two!  What do you think??  I was SHOCKED at Vanessa’s skills this week with that POV.  How did she convince Julia to challenge Austin?  #i’mstillconfused
I saw this late last night on a friend’s Facebook page and loved it!!  This is how I want to be to other people….filling up their lives with joy not sucking them dry.  Let’s be fountains today, ladies!!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!!  XOXO

I just watched the video you linked to and it made my cry! What a sweet thing for them to do in that officer's honor. And then on another note, Smith and Ashby had the best time eating those yucky jelly beans yesterday ;).

Johnny Mac all the way!! I am also still in shock at Vanessa convincing Julia to challenge Austin in the POV comp. Just wow. She deserves to win even though I love Johnny Mac!

I watched the lip-dub video. And now I can't get "We Built This City" out of my head, I keep finding myself singing it as I work two hours after I watched it 🙂
