Friday Favorites-November 1st Edition

Hey Everyone!  Are you guys awake today?  Halloween on a Thursday is all fun and games until school on Friday morning!  I think we all deserve an extra cup of coffee {or two}.  Right?

I’m teaming up with my girls, Andrea and Narci, to bring you some FAVORITES!  Today, I’m sharing FIVE of my FAVES from the week…

On Monday my kids were out of school for parent/teacher conferences so we slept in, played at home, and ran a couple errands {and a neighbor joined us}.  Our last stop was Trader Joe’s and it was all fun and games until…one of these cuties knocked over a display.  He {I won’t go any further mentioning his name} picked up the Haunted House Decorating Kit to show me and as he was sitting it back down, they started falling.  I watched for a second and as he’d try to place one back, the other side would start toppling.  So, I did what any mom would do in that situation-I made a BEELINE around the next corner and pretended like I didn’t know the kid.

Don’t worry-he was laughing.  We were laughing.  The employee who came to help was laughing and it got taken care of very quickly.  Just for the record, this depicts what our trip to Trader Joe’s felt like…

Even though it looks like I caught Nix about to slap Britt-not what really happened.  He was covering her face for the picture.

Moms, I have GREAT news…when your kids get to be 10, 9, and almost 7 {3-not so much}…they’ll be able to and will want to carve their own pumpkin.  WAHOO!!!!

I picked up some of those pumpkin carving kits at the grocery store last week in preparation for this night and while Tab helped them a bit, the big kids really wanted to do it themselves {and could}.  I got to sit back, enjoy the night, and it was my favorite pumpkin carving experience to date.  When they were younger it was so much work for us, but moms-please know it’ll happen one day.  One year you’ll hit that groove when carving pumpkins is nothing but fun!

It was chilly outside on Tuesday night but we had the fire going, heaters on, and we bundled up.

The finished products from L to R…Nixon, Britt {and Tab}, Ebby Lee, and Bowen.

Thanks to everyone who voted on my Insta-Stories.  These kiddos can be a tad competitive and the voting definitely upped the stakes on pumpkin carving night.  Dare I say a new tradition was born?  In order of votes…
#1 Britt
#2 Ebby Lee
#3 Nixon
#4 Bowen

I’m still talking about THE ERIKA TOP.  You need this in your life STAT!  Holiday parties dressed up with black pants, paired with skinny jeans for an errand running day, or to the office with a skirt-it can be worn so many ways!

And did you see THIS LIST?!  Freeform is starting Christmas movies in November this year!  You can see the November line-up already!  So, maybe we’ll start knocking out our Christmas movie watching list early this year?!  Christmas movies are a FAVORITE!

I’m taking a little blog break next week when I’m out of town on my girls’ trip.  I’ll be back on Friday with some FAVORITES!

I’ve gotten lots of questions about gifts for my kids, recommendations, etc. so I’m working on Christmas idea posts for the following week!  Get ready for all things Christmas around here!  EEK!

Have a great weekend, friends!  I’ll see you next week!

I feel bad for Bowen. Tell him that I tried to vote for #4 because I loved the big smile, but that option was positioned directly over the DM bar so it kept taking me to the screen to send you a DM and wasn't registering the vote. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Such fun pictures! The pumpkins look fantastic and it looks like they had tons of fun! Yes, once they get older they will want to carve their own, and then all of a sudden they no longer want to do it … like my – just turned 17 – year old. But at least my 13 year old still enjoyed it 🙂 They grow up so fast!!

My kids did enjoy carving their own for a couple of years and then informed me that they hated the smell and the slime so they stopped carving altogether. Their pumpkins came out so cute!
