Friday Favorites-8.20.21

How was your week?  Tab was out of town most of the week so my frazzled, tired mama self is happy to see the weekend arrive.  Andrea and I are back today with FRIDAY FAVORITES!

For the most part, we are back in our regular school routine.  Most fall sports have resumed, school is back in session {I’m just waiting for you, preschool}, and we’re getting our groove.  Like I said, I was struggling a bit at the end of the week though.

This girly doesn’t start pre-K until later this month but she wasn’t gonna miss the annual first day of school pictures.  By the way, I talked to another mom friend and these weeks in between school and preschool can be rough!  I have some fun ideas coming next week if you’re feeling the same way!

Ebby Lee is pumped about entering seventh grade.  She is excited about not being the rookie in the building, is looking forward to cheering, and has made lots of new friends.  Seventh grade has been so great so far!

Bowen is officially the only Slaughter at our local elementary school and he’s not sad about it.  He has a new-to-our-family teacher but he loves her already.  She’s only been his teacher for a week and has gotten him into reading more than he’s ever been before already!  He’s looking forward to a great third grade year!

Nixon is the new man on the middle school campus and he LOVES it!  Due to playing on so many different teams for sports Nixon knows so many other kids from other elementary schools who are all merging into his middle school.  As we walked his classes for meet the teacher, we were shocked how many classes he has with friends.  He’s pumped about no lines, independence, and graduating from elementary school.  This kid is loving sixth grade!

3/4 of my FAVORITE faces headed back to school!  And my mama prayers were answered for 3 great days!

If you need to add a little snack food to your pantry, give these a try.  A new FAVORITE and they’re delicious!

Bowen’s baseball team began practicing this week and it’s definitely one of his FAVORITES!  For this age group it’s now kid pitch, which is a huge deal when you’re eight!  He’s got a new position he really wants to play.  So much so, that you could find me in the backyard this week getting pinged with baseballs attempting to catch.  Yesterday, I got hit in the knee cap and I thought I was gonna be down for hours.  #wheresmycatchersgear

Let’s talk about one of my FAVORITE things, Big Brother {a few of my thoughts lately but I haven’t watched last night’s episode yet}…

*If I had to choose FAVORITES right this second, I’d choose Kyland and Tiffany.  Kyland seems to be playing well without upsetting anyone and often times Tiffany is voicing what I’m actually thinking.
*For some reason I feel so bad for Britini.  I know it’s all part of the game, but she seems to be the one who’s randomly getting the short end of the stick this season.  But my boy, Kyland, is targeting her this week?  WHY?!
*The OTEV competition…did anyone else think this?
Didn’t OTEV sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger?  I searched though and it wasn’t his voice.

Did you listen to the latest episode of The Bestie Breakdown?  Recording podcasts with my bestie each week is a FAVORITE for me!  If you haven’t listened to this week’s episode on Breaking Down Back to School you can find all the episodes here.  And if you have any reader questions you’d like us to answer, please e-mail us at thebestiebreakdown@gmail.com.  You can also send us voice messages to answer on the podcast as well!  You can find the place to send voice messages here.

That’s all I’ve got this week!  Thanks so much for reading!  Have a great weekend!

This year's group on Big Brother is so good! I am not a fan of Britini though. All that crying is getting old. You're on a show where you get voted off eventually, it shouldn't be such a surprise.

I really like Kyland too!! Tiffany needs to be careful. I think people are going to start realizing how well she’s playing and how smart she is and start to turn on her. And Britni…oh gosh. I feel bad for her too but then again I won’t be sad if she goes. 🥴

I don't really have any favorites on Big Brother, but I totally thought that about OTEV!!!! And I can't believe it wasn't him!!!! I also feel bad for Britni. It just seems like she keeps getting targeted for no reason. Or at least no reason they are showing anyways. I hope your kids have a great year!!! Today is my kids' first day back. Can't wait to hear all about it in about 5 hours. LOL!!!!

I'm surprised to read that your preschools don't start school the same day as the schools; as far as I know all of ours run the normal school year.. but we don't start back for another week.

I am so glad that you are giving your daughter some extra time to get ready for kindergarten. My niece is in 3rd grade but is so far behind and is struggling so much. I wish that her mom would hold her back a year or two so that she can get caught up. She has ADHD, Autism, and a few other delays and just cannot catch on to reading and struggles to communicate with her peers. How have you dealt with the pressures of putting her in Kindergarten because she is the "right age"??

I don't think I've ever commented on your blog, but I read it all the time. I completely agree about OTEV and Arnold! I wondered if anyone else thought the same thing!
