Friday Favorites-5.8.20

 HAPPY FRIDAY!

Guess What?!  It’s FIELD DAY here in McKinney, Texas, so even though we’re online learning the day is devoted to being active, crazy, and outdoor play!  And this mama is HERE FOR IT!

Just like every Friday, I’ve joined forces with my girl, Andrea, to bring you some FAVORITES!  Last week, I shared a big dose of FAVORITES from my kiddos themselves and today Tab and I have compiled our own list of FAVORITES we both enjoy.

First up, is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  Have you watched this?  It’s on Amazon Prime and has three seasons currently.  I’ve heard they’ve signed for a fourth, so there’s more to come.  Now let me be honest-Tab wouldn’t call this one of his favorite shows and I wouldn’t call it my favorite show but this type of show is the sweet spot in one we’d enjoy watching together.  We like to watch a show when kids have gone to bed and anything I’m not remotely interested in acts as a sound machine for me.  I never have any problems falling asleep.  Since this one is a little more “girly”, my interest is peaked!  We’re both really enjoying it during this quarantine, but I have to tell you-the language is RATED R!  {Which is actually too bad because so far there hasn’t been anything other than the language causing it to get that rating so WHY do shows do that?!  But I wanted to give you the heads up.}

This picture doesn’t do it justice, but we built an outdoor space last summer {which took WAY longer than we were expecting}.  Since there have been zero sports, Tab’s not traveling, and the weather has been amazing we’ve been using this space almost every night.  From dinner on the patio to a fire with a good movie on a cool night we’re loving it all.  Typically during the summer afternoons, I do not let the kids’ swim because I can’t be out there AND work so they have to wait until I’m finished.  With this patio, I can work away in the shade under a fan WHILE they swim and have fun.  Win-win for everyone!  Don’t tell Tab this, but I wish we’d done it much, much sooner.

Another new FAVORITE is ALL THE GRILLING!  We usually only grill on the weekends Tab’s in town because he’s not home in time to grill so we can eat.  And after a long day I assume the last thing he wants to do is walk in and then go grill dinner.  BUT-we’ve been grilling burgers, fajitas, steaks, chicken, and on and on.  Our local grocery store has fresh chicken breast strips paired with onions and peppers and it’s all seasoned.  Tab will grill it in one of those grilling baskets and it’s so easy!  Paired with chips and guacamole, it’s a family favorite!

Local friends-sometimes it’s hard to find certain meat at the grocery store, but every time I’ve gone to Local Yocal they’ve had whatever I was looking for.

You guys know this saying is anything BUT true on a typical Sunday.  Am I right?  Tab and I are both loving our slow paced Sunday mornings at home.  I’ve been making some sort of breakfast casserole I can put in the oven when I get up and then we try to watch an 8:15 church service.  All six of us together watching the same sermon, enjoying breakfast, and  coffee or hot cocoa.  😉  Then Tab and I have a Zoom call with our own Sunday School class at 9:30.  This new type of Sunday really does have the, “Easy Like Sunday Morning” vibe.

Another favorite for both of us is our Peloton.  We both use the bike several times a week as well as the strength classes, yoga, and much more.  How thankful we are this was scheduled to be delivered the first big week of quarantine long before the quarantine was under way.

Date nights are hard to come by in a house with kids, but we have one scheduled tomorrow.  We’re ordering sushi for us to eat on the patio while the kids hang out inside the house.  Just the two of us time is a favorite, even in the middle of a stay-at-home order.

What are you and your spouse enjoying during quarantine life??  Any FAVORITES you should share?

Next week, I’ll be back with my own round-up of Friday Favorites again, but thanks for following along while I had my FAVORITE people share some of theirs.

Happy Weekend!
XO
