Periodically Tab attends a work meeting for his “real job” that’s out of town, typically in a great destination, and if I can, I make it work to tag along. That’s just what happened last week when Tab and I got away to Charleston, South Carolina. My mom was eager to visit again so she was excited about holding down the fort while I joined him.
We met up with Tab’s boss and his wife before boarding and since our flight arrived late that afternoon we stayed in Charleston, had a delicious dinner, and then made our way to the conference resort early the next morning.
Our rooms at The Spectator were gorgeous.
I traveled in a tank, black jeans {mine are old} and a maroon shawl {also old}.
I attempted to give you a little balcony views of the city. Emphasis on “attempt”-ha!
We got dressed up for dinner at S.N.O.B. which just happened to be a quick walk away.
Like I mentioned before Tuesday’s wake-up was EARLY, followed by a quick drive out to Isle of Palms {a 20’ish minute drive} to check into Wild Dunes Resort for the next two nights.
Our hotel room at Wild Dunes was very pretty as well.
It was just a quick walk to the beach. While Tab was in meetings, I walked the beach, checked out the resort, and worked in our room.
This resort was a gorgeous one…this great pool area would be loved by my kids.
As I worked I enjoyed this snack of Salt and Vinegar Pop Chips. Have you tried these? I’m a BIG FAN of anything salt and vinegar related and these are pretty healthy which makes them even better! 100 calories, gluten free, yes, yes, yes! They are good!
I’m not sure if it was the bottle or what, but this spring water was delicious!
The first evening of the conference was a BBQ out on one of the lawns…think twinkling lights, red table cloths, and lawn games.
That cute boardwalk seemed appropriate for a picture.
The last full day Tab had most of the day off as well. Now that I’m typing this out, he didn’t have a ton of work. ha! This was a view of the resort from the rooftop terrace. This getaway has me wondering why do I not eat grits every day with breakfast?
Another view of this cute resort.
Our plan was to go into Charleston and explore for most of the day, but we learned upon arrival most Ubers/Lyft drivers won’t drive over to the island to pick guests up. We should have rented a car for our explore Charleston day, but instead our day turned into a workout day, chill/relax, enjoy an afternoon cup of coffee, and just a really low key day. It was glorious. Now I do have another Charleston trip I’m working on to really see and do the city, because I’m sure those of you from this area are like-you missed so much! Trust me-I have so many things I’d like to see.
The company had set up spa appointments so we both got massages later that afternoon and then we got ready for the awards dinner and ceremony.
The dinner ended pretty early and so we were off to go watch baseball in our pajamas in bed. Glorious!
The next morning we grabbed breakfast in the restaurant downstairs before we headed back to the airport. Wore this top-still in stock.
Again, so much to see/do in the Charleston area that we missed but we truly enjoyed our stay at Wild Dunes. I think my family would LOVE visiting this destination in the future.
XO
So glad you had some one on one time!! Looks beautiful!

That resort is GOREGOUS!!! What a great place to relax for a few days!!
Take a peek at R kitchen for dinner and the Charlestonian to stay at. R kitchen was a super cool experience. Small, intimate, and interactive with the chefs. The Chalestonian was walkable to the main area shopping street. We stayed in the upper front apartment. It’s an old Mansion. Super duper cool!
Seriously, not to be redundant, but you missed SO MUCH! You'll have to come back sometime
Downtown Charleston is a must see! Make it a separate trip and take your kiddo’s! Lots of history and lots of fun!!! Cheers!!!
Plan a couple of days at Kiawah Island when you take the family (or a PERFECT girls trip)! Wild Dunes is “nice” but Kiawah is another whole level 🙂
Work trips that a spouse can tag along on are the best!!! As your kids get older I hope there are more in your future 🙂
Relaxing vacay!!! looks like you had a wonderful few days!! That gray dress is sooo cute… looks great on you!!!
What Jennibell said…Kiawah is THE best. You have to go there next time. Take the kids – you’ll all love it!
What a lovely resort! I often accompany my husband on his work trips too!
