Happy Monday from this sweet girl! 🙂
I cannot believe this girl has been ours for three months. In some ways it feels like we’ve had her for years but in other ways we’re still learning so much about each other.
Britt has grown by leaps and bounds this month {Humble mom brag moment…haha!}. She’s begun taking steps. You should our family of six celebrate when she does this! We have her walk from person to person all the time. She’s definitely not walking on her own but she’s making such improvements.
I think I’ve mentioned before that she doesn’t like being on her tummy. Crawling is her enemy but this smart thing has mastered a way to “crawl” all while in the sitting position. I really should video this for you. Not really what we were trying to get her to do, but she’s figured a way to get herself around this place.
She can make the funniest faces {Please note her face above}. She will laugh at herself and then even cover her mouth like she really shouldn’t be laughing. She mimics EVERYTHING the big kids do…even the naughty things!
She’s now saying, “Uh-oh” and she’ll shake her head both “yes” and “no”. She’s understanding more and more of what we say.

I have no doubts about her knowing we are her people…she is home. She’s sleeping all night long now {only took her about two months to figure that out but it felt like years…haha!}. She’s hit or miss on the food situation. We have her big palate surgery coming up at the end of the month. Cleft mamas, please send me your helpful hints. I’ll take ANYTHING! Cup suggestions, food suggestions, just anything that worked for you please send me your recommendations!
She is teeny, tiny but has touched all five of our hearts in such BIG ways! We’re so very thankful she’s ours.
This faith journey has been simply incredible. When I see my big kids fight {yes, fight-keeping it real} over who gets to play with Britt, or when I see Britt’s face light up when Tab walks in the door after work, I’m reminded of how far we’ve come. Our God is a BIG God. He’s turned our family into a family of six that might look a little different from the outside but love each other so big on the inside.

3 months already! I'm so glad she knows her people – y'all look so darn happy!!
Britt is the sweetest little thing and I have loved following your adoption story! I am a cleft lip/palate mom. My son was only 8 weeks old with his cleft lip surgery and only nine months old when he had his palate surgery (he turned 11 in July). It is SO HARD to hand over your baby for surgeries…I know exactly every feeling and thought you are having. I will be praying for your family and also for the doctors performing the surgery. xo
I am a mama of a daughter we adopted from China, who also had a cleft lip and palate. It's been 7 years since her surgery. As far as tips and tricks for the surgery and after, I couldn't tell you specifics anymore (mostly because I also have 3 other kiddos and the details have been forgotten). However, the #1 Truth I kept before me during this time was my calling. I KNEW in my depths that I was being called by God to adopt this girl. Therefore, when things got tough, and they will, I remembered this. Because if God called me to it, He would see me through it. And he did. Over and over and over again. She is currently a nine year old who loves life and is full of JOY! If you have further or specific questions, please, contact me!
Miss Britt is adorable! She always looks so happy in all of your photos. You all are lucky to have each other. Good luck on her surgery later in the month. Not going to lie it's hard but the time will go quickly. I am certain you are working with lots of wonderful people to help Britt. My daughter had her first cleft surgery at 6 months, and we had to teach her to drink from a cup at six months. Britt is a lot older but still will need lots of love and patience after surgery. Sending lots of prayers for quick and easy recovery.
I got so excited when I saw her taking some steps the other day! Way to go Britt! She is just so sweet and cute I can hardly stand it!
I love them all! I am all about the dresses this summer because I could not wear many last summer because I was still nursing. I feel like I need to make up for lost time.
Love your Britt updates. She's adorable!
My seven year old hated tummy time as a baby. She would scream if we laid her on her tummy. She was a "butt scooter" too, to get around. She never crawled,so all her pants got holes in the bottom 😉 she learned to walk at 18 mos. It was normal to us, but anyone who saw her scoot would stare and have to comment 😉 she turns 7 on Saturday. .. normal kid who is so precious!
Glad to hear that she's doing well. She definitely has a great family to support her.
